Town Accept Peterborough Bid for Moore
Wednesday, 3rd Jan 2018 10:14

Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has revealed that Town have accepted a Posh offer for striker Kieffer Moore, but that a deal is not yet a fait accompli.

“We have had a bid for Kieffer Moore accepted by Ipswich,” Fry told Peterborough Today. “But there are a lot of add-ons attached which our chairman might not fancy.

“We believe Moore playing alongside Jack Marriott with Marcus Maddison supplying the crosses would be formidable in League One.

“Moore has done well for Rotherham this season and obviously they also want him so we will have to wait and see.”

It’s speculated that the initial fee is £250,000, although that would appear unlikely as it’s understood Rotherham have offered a figure which would eclipse their record fee of £500,000, coincidentally paid to Posh for midfielder Jon Taylor in August 2016.

Moore, 25, who was recalled from his loan spell at Rotherham at the start of the month, is also interesting a number of other League One clubs, including Charlton, Scunthorpe, Bradford and Wigan.

Speaking last night, manager Mick McCarthy wouldn't comment on developments regarding Moore - "I can’t tell you anything" - but he confirmed that if the striker features for Town he can’t play for anyone else other than the Millers this season due to FIFA’s three-club rule.

“That’s correct, or stay with us,” he said. “He can’t play in the cup anyway. That gives us a bit of thinking room, I guess.”

What 😂 Is that serious, why would we cash in on a player for 250k when there's a chance he could be a really good player- personally I don't think he will but why risk it for that amount of money???? He must be one the smallest wages as well, I'd even keep him as a last minute chuck on the big man and see if he can score a header... madness!

Has anyone pointed out to Peterborough that Moore wouldn't be able to play for them until next season under FIFA's 3 club rule? It's us or Rotherham. So why don't we stop faffing and accept the Rotherham bid or get him back in the fold.

That's not the case unless he plays for us, which he hasn't (and presumably won't).

I know it's January.....but this price is stupid, have him back give him some game time and then sell him if he doesn't come up to scratch in the summer window, he is a player in form scoring for fun.

Seems a bit off for Rotherham if the bid rumors are true, what is the thinking behind this. Can you dig any further information on this Phil?

It says that £250k is speculated so would not read too much into it at this stage.

This is desperate.. recall a player at the earliest opportunity who has been flying just so we can sell. We haven't even looked at him and then accept a bid on the 3rd of January so we get a bit of money. Pure desperation.

It also says various add ons. This will undoubtedly include a significant sell on.

Don't believe 250k. If that was all we should hold on to him. Wonder if Posh are considering a bid for Pitman also 😀😁😃

Calm down, people. "It is speculated ... although that would appear unlikely." Truth is we shall probably never know what the actual fee was when he goes, nor what bells and whistles are attached to the contract. At least we, the sellers, should be in a strong position here, so there is no reason for ME to give Moore away too cheaply.

What an absolute joke. What was the desperate need to cash in when we're talking such a low transfer fee and an optional extension on his contract? Peterborough have a far better knack of actually developing young players and selling them on than we do so I expect he'll do well there. Losing Jack Marriott should've been a big enough lesson to keep faith and give them a chance to develop for a couple of years.

Don't think he would achieve at championship level from what I saw. If letting him go makes it easier to keep Bart then it probably makes sense. Garner and Waghorn plus McG and Sears should on paper mean a decent strike force. I did say on paper !

December 19th

Blues MD Ian Milne says Town selling on-loan striker Kieffer Moore during the January transfer window is "not on the cards".

I do wonder if he has any clue as to what is going on at times. That or he's just a compulsive liar.

Rensham added 11:28 - Jan 3
What has Moore got that Garner and Waghorn and McG and Sears lack?? oh yes all our forwards are 5'6" and kieffer would offer a different outlet at 6'10" Sell Sears or send him out on loan or if everything else fail they're always short selling pies and beer.

Oh dear !!!
Mick was right...we will only sell if there is a bonkers deal for him
....and from what is being said...this really is bonkers....bonkers low !!!
I cannot understand why this club is in financial difficulties.
We let an international CB walk for free and now one of the leagues top scorers go for peanuts...just because we only paid £20k for him.
We are far too nice (or naive). Mick never wanted him back as he would have to make some difficult decision if he was ever to play...and we know that is not Micks style.
Hopefully this is all paper talk and Keifer will stay here...and score goals for US !!!

This is Evans business ploy. The lad is just cattle for the market. Joke club we are fast becoming.

Why are people claiming we haven't looked at him MM had him here last season and we all saw how poor was at this standard ? He is not better than the forwards we have if anyone has noticed that are scoring , it is our shocking defence .
I would cash in on him asap as I believe he has hit a purple patch at Rotherham and will go back to normal soon
