Moore Set for £750,000 Barnsley Switch
Friday, 5th Jan 2018 09:41

Kieffer Moore reportedly underwent a medical at Barnsley last night and is close to completing a £750,000 move to the Tykes.

According the Daily Mail, the clubs have agreed the fee and the 25-year-old was at Oakwell yesterday with the move close to being finalised.

News that Championship Barnsley had moved for Moore first emerged last night when Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony hinted on Twitter that the Tykes were the club who the 6ft 5in tall striker was set to join.

Posh had previously agreed a fee for Moore before opting against the move with the wage being offered at Barnsley close to £10,000 a week, according to MacAnthony.

Rotherham, for whom Moore scored 13 goals in a highly successful loan spell during the first half of the season, also made a bid, as did Bradford, while a number of other League One clubs, including Charlton, Scunthorpe and Wigan, were also understood to be interested.

Torquay-born Moore cost the Blues £20,000 when he was signed from Forest Green Rovers a year ago. He made 11 sub appearances for Town without scoring.

Wow. So we pretty much got Garner and Waghorn fully financed by an (unproven) Moore!

Let's now go get some other hidden gems like Garner and Waghorn and improve the side again (fingers fully crossed)

Whatever you think of MM in other aspects of the job - he has been very shrewd in his player acquisitions and loans on a very limited budget.

Good for him and good for us. I hope it works out well for him and he doesn't get too much grief from the Rotherham fans for opting for one of their local rivals. I hope he proves himself worthy of the wage!

Great business if true. Good luck to the lad but I can't ever see him become a championship striker. Had a run like Sears did in his first 6 months at Town but I just can't see it continue. Don't blame the club for cashing in on this one.

Good luck to the boy if true, looks like his loan to Rotherham paid off & he'll get game time there.

@ RanmoorRuffian. Agreed. Hate Mick's football but credits for Fraser, Lawrence & Celina loans. Also think Webster will make up for all of Micks salary during his years at the club.

Right now, looks like very shrewd business. Time will tell.

I just hope we put a sell-on clause in, for the (probably unlikely) event that he scores another 15 and gets sold for more in the summer.

This only stacks up for me if Drinan is the real deal and MM had to make a choice, cos we def know that money is not getting reinvested in anything other than loans/wages.

Otherwise letting go of any type of goalscorer when it could be argued we are in free-fall, could cost us dearly. Am thinking of relegation rather than missing out on play-offs.

PS good luck to that lad. Takes real guts to pick yourself up from non-league at his age and make an impression at league level. Would have thought those qualities alone were worth keeping him around for half a season on pennies, but what do i know.

Good deal, let's spend in on loaning a decent central midfielder.

I bet there's a huge number of add-ons in that £750,000 figure.
Still probably a good bit of business for Town. I don't think he's going to be the new Zlatan, is he?

Now get rid of Mcgoldrick, sears and Bart that'll help return some of the funds where people have not renewed the season tickets.

On a more serious note. By getting rid of these players will hopefully pave the young academy players to make way next season

Good for the lad and a great bit of business for the club. Could we have kept him, honed his skills and developed him into a decent Championship striker? I guess we will never know.

I'd play for Barnsley for 10k a week.

Very good business. No brainer, really. Hopefully, Drinan is a better long-term prospect. Hope Moore scores against the Budgies. Good luck to him.

Evans makes all the money decisions. Moore is a MM type of player do you not think he would of wanted to keep him especially as it seems likely that mcgoldrick is going. Evans has no clue what he is doing with this club he will always just sell and we will se none of the money....... Evans is all responsible for letting players run down their contracts again what a joke this man is..... Evans out!!!

Fantastic bit of business fairplay.

Let's hope that we can reinvest that in a player or 2.
