Moore Completes Barnsley Switch
Monday, 8th Jan 2018 19:12

Barnsley have confirmed the signing of Blues striker Kieffer Moore on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Moore, 25, is understood to have cost the Tykes a fee of £750,000 and will be paid nearly £10,000 a week at Oakwell, almost certainly more than three times his wage at Portman Road.

Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom told his club's official site: “Kieffer is an excellent addition to the side and we’re really pleased to bring him here. It’s a deal that the club has worked hard on and got done quickly, so I’m delighted with that.

"He’s a player in top form and will bring something different to improve the side. We were after a player of his qualities, who can offer something different and improve the starting XI.

"His height will trouble defenders and cause problems, but as a player he’s got much more in his locker and will score different types of goals.

"Kieffer has already been in the local area and knows South Yorkshire now, so I expect him to settle quickly and work hard to get into our team.”

The Blues signed Moore for £20,000 from Forest Green Rovers last January and he made 11 sub appearances without scoring.

The 6ft 5in tall Torquay-born frontman joined League One Rotherham in the summer and scored 13 goals while at the New York Stadium before being recalled at the start of the year with a number of mainly third tier sides keen on signing him on a permanent basis, in addition to the Millers and his new club.

Inclined to agree, for once, with warktheline's assessment of Keiffer. On balance I don't think the lad will rip up this league unless he hones his skills. The most worrying aspect of this story is the alleged £10,000 a week. Silly money that will probably cause a few problems in the Barnsley squad.

Good luck to Keiffer! I am having a hard time getting upset over this, I think it is good business for all parties.
