Free Agent Cotterill Latest Link
Tuesday, 9th Jan 2018 16:42

Town are one of a long list of clubs claimed to be interested in free agent former Birmingham winger David Cotterill.

According to Football Insider, Rangers, the Blues, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Reading and QPR are all considering moving for the 30-year-old Wales international, whose contract at St Andrew’s was terminated by mutual consent last month after a three-and-a-half-year spell.

Much-travelled Cotterill started his career with Bristol City then moved on to Wigan, Sheffield United, Swansea, Portsmouth (loan), Barnsley and Doncaster before spending time back on loan at Ashton Gate in the first half of 2017.

Prior to his Birmingham exit he had made four starts and four sub appearances this season with his most recent game back in November.

While Town are out to add to their midfield options during January - and will be looking at the free agent market - they’re targeting central players to cover for those currently out injured rather than wide men.

Well this one would be a classic Mick/Ipswich signing.

TractorCam. Cotteril has only played 3 times for Birmingham this season. Not good enough to get in their team. 30 years old. Perfect for us to sign as we usually sign players who are others cast offs. If he did come here, surprise, surprise he wouldn't be match fit. As usual we are being linked to everybody.

Whoever we sign is just a stop gap until the end of the season when they will leave along with MM.

A winger is something we don't need

If only we had a young winger?would save signing some 30 yr old journey man. What must Rowe think of this story?

You really are all wallys how often do we sign someone we're linked to
Not Micks style he's far to classy for that.

And for all the mick outers who would want his job
With his budget.

Let's hope this is just a rumour. A journeyman on a free transfer isn't what we need nor has it been a successful strategy in recent years. Hardly likely to get the fans flocking back. Cheap option.

If it is a true a classic Mick signing it is - probably he will come here not play or get injured and we will pay his wages as he might be a top bloke who will disappear in the summer gaining us nothing . Classic MM

Im not a great fan of searching the freebie market but this las has something about him! He always gives his all and hes certainly a lot better player than Douglas or Tabb so id take him as a option definatly! Sell Didzy, bring Waggy into the number 10 role behind Garner amd give this lad a go on the right of the 3!

BlueheartXT, plenty? Apart from Celina, who? We need a winger to stop playing Sears on the right. Need CM too.
