Free Agent Cotterill Latest Link
Tuesday, 9th Jan 2018 16:42

Town are one of a long list of clubs claimed to be interested in free agent former Birmingham winger David Cotterill.

According to Football Insider, Rangers, the Blues, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Reading and QPR are all considering moving for the 30-year-old Wales international, whose contract at St Andrew’s was terminated by mutual consent last month after a three-and-a-half-year spell.

Much-travelled Cotterill started his career with Bristol City then moved on to Wigan, Sheffield United, Swansea, Portsmouth (loan), Barnsley and Doncaster before spending time back on loan at Ashton Gate in the first half of 2017.

Prior to his Birmingham exit he had made four starts and four sub appearances this season with his most recent game back in November.

While Town are out to add to their midfield options during January - and will be looking at the free agent market - they’re targeting central players to cover for those currently out injured rather than wide men.

Hi
Birmingham fan here. Cotts could be a quality player for you. Harry signed 14 players so we have too many and don't use wingers anymore. Can certainly change games on his good days... All the best...

Not posted for a while as I get so frustrated by the lack of realism on the site. People are either completely pro or anti Mick and never look at the middle ground. Said before I travel 150 miles for a home game and have generally hated it over the last two or three years but support my club through everything. Mick has made some poor injury prone signings but many great ones too, he cannot be slated for his transfer policy as on his budget their will also be plenty of risk as many players are unproven. For every Mings or Mooore or even Waghorn and Garner their will be a Douglas or Tabb etc - every Manager has them even Fergie signed Veron , Forlan and others.
The issue I come back to every time in who would do better and surely the issue is the budget. I'd love us to give Nash a go - but is that a risk that could be worse, for al the MM haters the team/squad are loyal to him. The injuries over two years now are ridiculous but we have lost the following for more games than they have played and I know no team that would compete with this list... Williams, Didzy, Frazer, Webster, Bishop, Hyam, Dozzell, Huws, Adeyami that is to name just a few - nearly all ball players and creative. Just my thoughts

the injuries are the result of playing injury prone players in an underpowered team playing a purely physical anti football game.
MM has made over 60 signings. loan and permanent. only a handful have worked out with 80% leaving after one season.

Our well respected club is going downhill rapidly! How long will it take for the board to stop this decline?it needs to happen Now! A new Manager and a little money to spend in this window. We will be bottom half of the table come the end of the season if this doesn't happen,Simple! I am a life long Tractor boy through thick and thin but enough is enough Mick...

@Baxter7 - Paul Hurst would be a fantastic manager for us. He has worked wonders by bringing in lower league guys on frees, or small fees. The reason they are so good is they are all fit, average age is under 25, they are very well organised and all strong athletes. However, the Shrews will go up this year with Hurst . Ipswich will then be at the same level as them, why would he move?

Having lived in Bristol all my life, I can remember like yesterday the impact he had when he first came on the scene at Ashton Gate. Seriously, seriously talented player at this point - however a lot of his game was based on pace.

May sound a little uninspiring to many on the face of what he's done this season, however providing he's fit / hungry / and hasn't lost pace - Lloyd Dyer we REALLY should have signed despite age then Cott could be a very canny signing.
