Town Announce New Shirt Sponsor
Thursday, 11th Jan 2018 12:16

Town have announced a new three-and-a-half-year sponsorship deal which will see the name Magical Vegas emblazoned across the Blues’ first-team shirts.

Magical Vegas is an online gaming operator, a brand of Daub Alderney Ltd, which is part of the Stride Gaming group. The deal, worth up to £2 million in the Championship but potentially more in the Premier League, runs to the end of 2020/21 season.

The name will also see the Magical Vegas logo replace the Marcus Evans name on the Blues’ red away shirt, but not the home kit, for the remainder of this season.

The club say that fans who have bought an adult away shirt for this season can have the Magical Vegas logo overprinted for free at Planet Blue, although not immediately. Full details will be released soon.

Children’s sizes will continue to carry the Marcus Evans logo for the remainder of the campaign but due to FA guidelines the Magical Vegas name won’t appear on next season’s junior shirts.

“A lot of hard work has taken place on both sides and it’s the start of an exciting new partnership,” Town MD Ian Milne told the club website.

Town’s director of sales, Rosie Richardson, added: “We’ve been working on this agreement since the autumn and we are all delighted it has come to fruition.

Magical Vegas is an exciting brand and we look forward to a new era of shirt sponsor at Ipswich Town Football Club.”

Konstantinos Veletas, spokesperson for the Stride Gaming group, continued: “We are delighted to be working alongside such a prestigious football club as Ipswich Town.

“It’s a thrilling new venture for us and we are looking forward to a very successful partnership over the next three and a half years.”

Magical Vegas is an online casino site offering a large selection of casino games, ranging from online slots and live casino to scratch cards and arcade games while also offering an extensive selection of exclusive games.

I certainly will not be buying that for my kids. If they want a town top I will go retro. I understand the financial argument but it doesn't mean I have to like it. As with many others I am embarrassed by this.

Are you reading this thread Ian Milne? Do you ever read anything on this site? Do you have any idea at all what supporters feel about ANYTHING? Everything that used to make me so proud of this club is being stripped away and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, this. If the club was trying to alienate fans it couldn't do any better job than it's doing at the moment. Utterly utterly sick and tired of this owner, this manager, this MD, this dreary football, and the constant chipping away of our club. I want my Ipswich back.

Why didn't the club consult its fans? Another PR disaster coming out of PR!

Im presuming that not one whos slating the club for taking sponsorship from an online betting company never uses one one themselves. Or are they just using this as another way to slag off evans and milne, and being total hypocrites. Yet many of those would back an alcohol conpany sponsoring the shirts. Yes the design is crass for sure and should be improved on. Doubt it will tho if that is the companies logo.

I don't have a problem with an online gambling sponsor, more the fact it looks terrible. Why aren't we focussing on that?!

That's a crap logo of a company most will be saying WHO'S THAT? But what's wrong with a gambling company? I'm sure there's more than one bookie ad board around the ground no ones bitched about that on here that I've seen!! No one complains about the alcohol companies ads. Or the fact we used to call the south stand churchmans!! People are way to easily offended these days!! It's more money coming into the club people should be please and only moaning about how crap it looks!!!

It was bad enough buying shirts and other items with the ME logo but I will never buy one with that on it.

Disgusting!

According to Milne this is exciting, about as exciting as the dross McCarthy serves up week and week out.
Can the club sink any lower?

Liam88 - you've got it mate! Whoring ourselves out for 2 million quid, which really is bus fare in the financial football landscape of today. But it's an epidemic, the vast majority of clubs in English professional football have sold themselves out for the filthy lucre...

The outcry from this is ridiculous! It is a s**t logo, I think everyone agrees that. However, the moral high ground people are taking... we play in Sky Bet Championship! Shall we boycott playing in the league as well as shirt sales? ( No comments about doing that for 16 years)
Don't buy it because it looks s**t is fine. But not to buy it because of the company sponsoring is pretty petty in my book. It's £2 million for the club, who we is going to give that kind of money to sponsor us. Good business from the club in my world.

Looks incredibly tacky..seems we've now gone down a road I thought we were better than..only a matter of time now until Portman Road is renamed The Magical Vegas Stadium.

@exeterblue10

You've summed everything about our club up at the moment.

Just sick of it..wish we could go back 20 years.

Our economy, like our club, is truly sick. No true wealth-producing businesses around or willing to get involved with us. All we have are these tinpot, tax-dodging money-movers. Even if it's ‘practical', it's still sad. Was always proud we'd never advertised parasitic organisations like these.

Also, everyone saying 'this once great club' we will continue to be a 'once great club' unless we change with the times. Everyone keeps harping back to how great the old days were. We will never get back to those days if we don't change. Football has moved on, we need to move with it otherwise we will still be in the championship or lower in another 16 years.
Be majority of people moaning on here are the same ones who are moaning we don't spend any money! The club makes a change and still people moan! The logo is s**t, McCarthy is s**t and should go. This a great deal for the club and our finances.
