Town Announce New Shirt Sponsor
Thursday, 11th Jan 2018 12:16

Town have announced a new three-and-a-half-year sponsorship deal which will see the name Magical Vegas emblazoned across the Blues’ first-team shirts.

Magical Vegas is an online gaming operator, a brand of Daub Alderney Ltd, which is part of the Stride Gaming group. The deal, worth up to £2 million in the Championship but potentially more in the Premier League, runs to the end of 2020/21 season.

The name will also see the Magical Vegas logo replace the Marcus Evans name on the Blues’ red away shirt, but not the home kit, for the remainder of this season.

The club say that fans who have bought an adult away shirt for this season can have the Magical Vegas logo overprinted for free at Planet Blue, although not immediately. Full details will be released soon.

Children’s sizes will continue to carry the Marcus Evans logo for the remainder of the campaign but due to FA guidelines the Magical Vegas name won’t appear on next season’s junior shirts.

“A lot of hard work has taken place on both sides and it’s the start of an exciting new partnership,” Town MD Ian Milne told the club website.

Town’s director of sales, Rosie Richardson, added: “We’ve been working on this agreement since the autumn and we are all delighted it has come to fruition.

Magical Vegas is an exciting brand and we look forward to a new era of shirt sponsor at Ipswich Town Football Club.”

Konstantinos Veletas, spokesperson for the Stride Gaming group, continued: “We are delighted to be working alongside such a prestigious football club as Ipswich Town.

“It’s a thrilling new venture for us and we are looking forward to a very successful partnership over the next three and a half years.”

Magical Vegas is an online casino site offering a large selection of casino games, ranging from online slots and live casino to scratch cards and arcade games while also offering an extensive selection of exclusive games.

I've emailed the club, and would suggest that others (seemingly a vast majority) who are not happy do the same. This is not the Ipswich Town Football Club I grew up supporting. It's shameful.
McCarthy's done the best he can on a shoestring. Sadly these days two million wouldn't make a dent in turning our fortunes around, and it's not worth selling our soul for it.

I prefer the Marcus Evans one.

I thought it was the low point when the bloke sent off (thru sheer stupidity and contributing to a 4-1 loss) the previous game appeared chirpily co-commentating on Radio suffolk the very next match!
Yes I thought thaaat was the low point for this club in not realising what us/the fans of this club must think (they must have allowed it)

I was sooo wrong..

this takes us to unchartered depths...
like a dodgy ref "THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEYRE DOINGGGGG!

RIP standards at ITFC

Those responsible for this decision should look at the Bobby Robson quote about 'what is a football club?' Sadly his noble words seem to have been completely ignored.

Skip73, google "How online gambling is a problem" if you genuinely want an answer.

WOW! Congrats Marvelous Marcus's on your latest money trick...

= EPIC "MAGIC" FAIL!!!

And to relay my sentiments on this here subject a little more ehmmm poetically:

"Marcus Evans is a magician that is cruel to beauty but kind to ugliness!"

(With apologies to Ouida of Bury St. Edmunds ...for twisting your famous "Familiarity" quote from 1906! lol)

As always a total overreaction by those who just want an excuse to slag off the club. There are so many clubs with online gambling sites as shirt sponsors and id bet their supporters never reacted like you guys. Karls dad. Its all very well u trying to justify ur objection to this by putting
2 bad reviews on here but ive looked at the site and there plenty of good reviews too.

We need the money. Yes, it is hideous to look at, but unfortunately, it is a sign of the times as big corperations wont touch us with a bargepole.

Posters have already said it, this news is horrible and disgusting. I have spent approximately £700 on shirts over a number of years, I won't be buying this one, as to promote a dodgy gambling site is awful. The football has been dire for some time and the nadir was the FA Cup game v Sheffield United, it was appalling and embarrassing. I am hoping Mick McCarthy leaves soon and we get decent football and crowds back at Portman Road.

Karl's Dad - if your experience of Magical Vegas is accurate and you feel you have been cheated, can you please do us all a favour and sue them. If successful, it may allow the Club to terminate the Contract on the grounds of 'bad publicity' so that aren't stuck with this for the next three and a half years. Cheers Mate.

Well, it's always a gamble if MM fields a suitable team, so the sponsor is fitting.

“Got to move with the times”.“How many other clubs are sponsored by gambling companies”...

These are facile arguments. It's a difficult to attract investment, granted, but sometimes principles are important.

Plus, I simply do not believe this was the only/best sponsorship opportunity the club could have secured, with a bit of extra effort.

It's entirely reasonable to suspect non-exec connections (mates) involved here. Ignore the PR, ignore what he supporters views are.

Companies like this - ‘Happy Vegas' or whatever - sap our country's productive energy and bleed the populace, all while contributing virtually nothing back.

Very happy to be in the ‘naive' camp here.

Blues1, i looked at Trustpilot and looked at reviews on this company, i believe there were nine and each one described this company as extremely dodgey , not a good word said by any, for me that was and still is good enough, and yes i have never placed a bet in my life, way too much sense for that!! i have had to work too hard for what i have, not that i am telling anyone not to gamble, its their money and they can spend it how they like! but not for me!!
I still think we have reached a new low on this deal though, awful!!

This season and our club in general is getting worse and worse.
Can't believe we have stooped so low to be promoting gambling...

Is there anything we can do?

If MM goes - which hopefully will happen soon - our football will improve.
But, the club won't. It will still be under the 'leadership' of ME.

Horrendous Logo/Ethics !!
Surely there must be companies with a more ethical stance than this?
What about green energy companies as i believe more energy is being generated this way each year?
We are a 'rural' club in comparison to many others,so why not?

Why is it that sport sponsors are almost always the lowest legally advertisable vice?
2

blues1 added 21:55 - Jan 11
Karls dad. As i said i daw both good and bad reviews which frankly many sites get regardless of what kind pf sites they are. I wouldn't have personally chosen a gambling site as shirt sponsor but just think the reaction has been over the top. There are 14 other championship clubs with betting sites as sponsors so why is it such a bad thing for us? It will bring in some money at the end of the day and keep those happy who wanted M.Es name off the shirts
