Pochettino: Ipswich is a Great Club With a Great Manager
Friday, 19th Jan 2018 21:36

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Town are a “great club with a great manager” and believes 20-year-old centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers will improve his game while on loan with the Blues.

USA international Carter-Vickers joined Town on loan for the rest of the season earlier today having been recalled from Sheffield United, where he made 18 starts and scored one goal, coincidentally at tomorrow’s opponents Bolton on his Blades debut.

Having come through the Spurs academy, he has made four senior starts, two in the FA Cup and two in the EFL Cup, all last season.

"Yesterday he was training with us and he was in a very good mood,” Pochettino said at his press conference earlier today.

"It was a great experience in Sheffield and we made a quick decision to move [him] to Ipswich. He’s going to learn a lot.

"It's a great club with a great manager and it can help him to improve his game. If he deserves to play games, that is important always.”

Pochettino once said he believed Southend-born Carter-Vickers, who is contracted to Tottenham until the summer of 2020, “can be one of the best centre-backs in England in the future” and he expects him to break into his team eventually.

"Yes, of course [he has a future at Spurs]. [Going on loan is] a great experience for the young players. After two years training with us, he deserves to play.

“He needs to build his career. We’re thinking one day he can come back and have success at Tottenham.”

In fairnes players that come to us on loan tend to improve and become better players I.e AMN, Fraser, Lawrence, Celina. Looking forward to seeing CCV on TV :)

Rensham. Guessing that if your that great at knowing your football and how to run and manage a club, can I assume you will be in the running when Real Madrid, Barcelona or one of Europe's elite clubs come looking for a manager. Otherwise will you be sticking with the local pub side The Anchor.

No doubt he is a good signing albeit on loan.

Doesn't explain why they decided to end his loan at Sheffield United and move him to Ipswich as it is less likely he will get games here unless there is a clause in the loan where he is guaranteed to play a certain amount of games during the loan spell which some PL clubs are now doing to ensure there young players actually play.

Seriously does anybody think that Pochettino follows Ipswich that closely from week to week and has far more knowledge on the managerial skills of Mick McCarthy than the majority of our supporters of the last 5 years...if so get a grip!

When has another manager in public 'bad mouthed' another (other than Conte and Mourinho) or said they aren't that good at their job?...it just doesn't happen.

the Top Coaches respect MM......

If only MM had the same respect & (financial £ms) backing that he deserves from our owner ME....then i'm sure MM would have spent it very wisely!

Good signing, but does this loanee go straight into the team at the expense of Kenlock? After the clean sheet against Leeds, and an impressive display by Knudsen at centre-half, I would hope that Mick can leave the back 4 unchanged.

Pochettino is a class act as this video shows, he's got a great way about him and look how good he is still too with the ball!

Players do seem attracted to coming to play for ITFC under Mick. Remember the trouble Paul Jewell experienced? He really struggled and ended up with some freebies past their playing days. Bobby Robson even complained in the late sixties that he could not get new players interested in coming to this area. Next stop North Sea. So, with the budget Mick has, he is doing well. And we should be very grateful to Marcus Evans that he is still even supporting the Club financially. If he went we would go bust again. I bet his Missus gives him a hard time for all the money he hands over to the Club and which goes straight out in players wages

Think he'll be a great addition till the end of the season probably too good and have everyone wanting to keep him without a chance, but like I said,a great signing and very fortunate to have him I think.

All this loan-player nonsense is ruining the game. Ipswich Town has effectively become a feeder or reserve team to Premier League clubs.

Could you imagine Bobby Robson loaning other teams' reserve players rather than developing our own youngsters in the first team?
