Bristol City Eyeing Webster Move Claim
Sunday, 28th Jan 2018 10:08

Bristol City are reportedly keen on a £4 million move for Blues central defender Adam Webster before the transfer window closes on Wednesday as cover for the much-coveted Aden Flint.

According to The Sun, Robins boss Lee Johnson wants Webster, 23, as his replacement for 28-year-old Flint, who is interesting West Brom, Brighton and a number of other Premier League clubs.

City are said to have rebuffed a £6 million offer from Derby County but are claimed to be more prepared to sell if a top flight club firms up their interest and offers their £10 million asking price.

Webster, who was back on the Town bench yesterday having recovered from an achilles injury, is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2019 with the club having an option for a further season.

Town are unlikely to consider offers for the former Pompey man before Wednesday’s deadline as the former England U18 and U19 international, who has been in and out of the Blues side due to a succession of injuries since signing in the summer of 2016, is viewed as someone whose value is likely to increase substantially as he gains more Championship experience.

The Blues have already seen one of their senior centre-halves, Tommy Smith, depart for the Colorado Rapids during this window with Cameron Carter-Vickers having replaced the New Zealand international on loan from Tottenham.

i think even the most ardent of the anti brigade would concede that player dealings have been one of the successes lof MM tenure.

Surely not going to happen.
Bristol City are having a good season but come on surely ITFC is a better Club. would Evans turn 4m down?!
He has had his injuries Webster but please don't sell him he is one to keep with Bart & a few others. Interesting news though.

Webster is part of medium- term spine of a good team: Bart - Webster - Dozzell - Waghorn. Unless Woolfenden is going to come back from Bromley the complete player!

You forget that ''Seller M.E.'' didn't let McGoldrick go for an even bigger sum because, I reckon, the timing wasn't right for the club (note - not ME).
Too many conspiracy theorists on here for my liking. Time you got a job with Fox News.

Webster has been better defensively this year but has a mistake in him
Injury prone
4 Million = Sell

I would trust that MM would re-invest wisely and even if he leaves having read the message boards it seems that any - ANY replacement will be better than MM

Let him go if the price is right!! He's half decent but spends more time injured than playing!! It doesn't matter how good he is if he spends half his time on the treatment table!! The money could be used to strengthen in 2 or 3 different areas!!

Though this story has spread across a variety of media...they all seem to say the same thing "according to the Sun". Speculation for the time being and certainly nothing to be concerned about. It's more likely that MCColdrick and Bru leave before the end of the transfer window.

looks like Mick is making a play on staying by showing he can make up for the downfall in crowd numbers by with his transfer dealings.

Anyone know how Matt Clarke is doing? He seemed pretty handy.

How are we ever going to compete in this league with player valuations such as this?

Tell them to make it £5m and they can have him..let's face it he'll probably spend the remainder of the season injured (again).

Chambers,Carter,Spence,Iorfa & Knudsen can cover the 2 central positions for the remaining games.

Just do not give anymore money to McCarthy to waste - the thing this club needs most of all is new management (or old for those who'd love to see Burley back involved somewhere).

We have gone so stale under McCarthy (staler)..if you're happy bobbing around in no-man's land for another 2 years, fine, but not for me thankyou.

Get a new man in asap please Marcus & give him the Webster cash to spend this summer..we have the core of a decent championship team, what we need now is a manager with a tactical brain and fresh enthusiasm.

If this happens and that trend continues then sooner rather than later we will be falling through the trap door !! And the rose tinted happy clappy brigade need to wake the hell up ! How can you be so deluded !

If Webster is sold, the supporters of any other club in this country would be out with pitchforks for Evans, intact they would have been long ago already. Not town though. The most docile, passionless, apathetic fans in the country. Hat's off to him, he chose sleepy Ipswich for a reason. You're a disgrace

£4m means Evans only needs to invest £1m to keep up with this years imaginary £5m a year running costs if we sell him.

Sad state of affairs when Bristol City are looking to poach our best players!! It used to be the other way round.

Want I want to see is Evans go and poach Lee Johnson this summer. He is my first choice to replace McCarthy if he goes.
