Chambers: Still in There Fighting But We Need Fans' Backing
Tuesday, 13th Feb 2018 15:02

Skipper Luke Chambers believes that Town are still in there fighting for a play-off place and says he and his team-mates need the backing of the Blues’ support if they are to finish in the top six as they did in the 2014/15 campaign.

Town are currently 12th in the Championship, eight points off the play-offs with 15 matches left to play.

“We are still in there fighting for a top-six place but we need to put a run together,” Chambers told the club site.

“You could ask what right do we have to be challenging for the play-offs though. When you look at the clubs in the Championship and see what some are getting from the parachute payments, what it is - £40 million this year - and look at the millions that some clubs are throwing at it, it’s nowhere near a level playing field.

“We’re still in there though. We know it’s going to be a big ask but we will be giving it a right good go.

“We need the supporters to stay with us though. No one wants a situation when one bad pass or a missed opportunity changes the mentality of people from positive to negative. I think a lot of that goes on in the game now everywhere.

“When we made the play-offs three years ago, the fans pulled us through games on occasions. When we needed a lift from the stands, we got it. You need that sometimes but we also know it’s down to what we do on the pitch to get the fans going as well.”

Better ask MM to implement a formation that allows us to go forward with the ball then Chambers.

If you can't even turn up for the game at home to the bottom club on losing 5 game streak you don't deserve support.

Well I suppose it is a bit early in the season to say that its all done and dusted, but please don't insult my intelligence by saying that you are striving for the play offs.

Entertainment is the name of the game. Supporters are not going to pay vast sums unless they get something back. A big win at Norwich will go a long way, but I worry that it won't happen. On the other hand a humiliation may see MM go.

If we were putting in decent performances and not always winning, you would have the full backing of all supporters. problem is that we churn out awful football, week after week after week. The real supporters are fed up with it and have a right to be fed up. I don't personally boo the team but i can totally understand those that do. If you don't like it Luke, then turn up for matches and put a bloody performance in. In fact you're one of the worst. All you do is pass the ball sideways or hoof it up the pitch in the hope we'll get a lucky bounce. I can't believe Webster is on the bench and you're not! As for the lack of money, I agree it would be nice to have some funds to spend but many other teams without still manage to play football and put half decent or decent performances in most weeks. So stop your whinning and give us something to bloody cheer about.

It's so patronising to hear this sort of rubbish week in, week out. We're no where near the play offs and we couldn't get a shot on target against the bottom side in the league. Just stop talking about the damn play offs and let it go because we all know it's a pipe dream and a waste of time even discussing them. Let's just try and beat Norwich for once and take some positivity into our final games and start building for next season when hopefully a new manager will arrive.

The atmosphere within the club now is getting so toxic that soon we won,t need a manager, we will need environmental health to come in. So sad.

Good try Chambo but listen son be realistic will ya.....The fans will ALWAYS be behind the players so please dont try and guilt trip any of us to do otherwise.
MM plays you out of position and sometimes picks you even if your form is well off....why? because you-re a "proper bloke"...You put a shift in....Prefers to hoof the ball to the opposition, but Hay.....MM loves all of that eh?

Fans will start coming back when they witness their side starting on the front foot and playing to their own strengths and not the oppositions weakness's. A side that plays to feet and feel comfortable on the ball. An entertaining side that win loose or draw, Play for passion and the badge they wear......Hear is an example...
Shefti Kuqi.....a player with very limited footballing talent but a heart and passion the size of suffolk. Fans loved him for we knew if he was playing he was our passion.
Next up is the Budgies at their nest.......Yep i will be their......Show me the passion and desire to turn them over. Show me some pride and mabe we can show some respect.....
