McCarthy Issues Apology for Language
Monday, 19th Feb 2018 13:42

Boss Mick McCarthy has issued an apology for his language while celebrating the Blues’ goal at Carrow Road yesterday, however, he reiterated that the comments, which were caught by TV cameras, were not aimed at Town’s travelling fans.

McCarthy’s “f*** off” after skipper Luke Chambers headed in what appeared to be Town’s winning goal in the 89th minute was widely interpreted to be a reaction to some supporters’ earlier derogatory chants aimed towards him following a substitution.

“It was a big moment for us, coming so late in the game. You can get carried away in situations like that,” McCarthy explained to the club site.

“To be honest, I forgot the cameras were there and can capture every word now. You don’t think about that during the game. For those who were offended by my language, I apologise.

“I’d like to reiterate though that my comments were not aimed at anyone. It was just a reaction to the goal and what it meant at that time.”

It certainly wasn't F*** off to Norwich, I'm sure he doesn't dislike them as much as we do. Right to apologise though for the language in which he can't get out of as the camera was on him.

mick has been in the game a long time so should be fully aware that you cannot please all the fans all the time etc, he could learn a thing or too from his best mate chris houghton about showing a bit of dignity as he was wrongly sacked twice from newcastle and norwich but remained respectful ...this is football and it goes with the territory, but he is clearly bothered by the song that was sung by the town fans, despite what he says

Wow headline news. Someone has been seen swearing on television. He must've been throwing abusive remarks to people who belong to the same team as him. Let's hang the bloke out to dry. Nobody else has ever done this before.
Please you lot give it a rest. McCarthy is probably as good as we will get. If and when the new bloke comes in, do you honestly and truthfully know if they will do any better!! With the way you lot a behaving, who would want to come to use lot. The commentary team were saying about the stick McCarthy is getting for doing a half decent job in all due respect. As a person who was getting the same amount of abuse and something like that happened wouldn't you react in a similar fashion in the heat of the moment. We have to realise that we are not a trendy city club where we could have the pick a vast array of managers.we are a sleepy little club in the middle of nowhere.

I believe him.. Queue the minuses.. but honestly at the time it didnt cross my mind..I just think it shows the passion and desire he had to win that game & how much it meant to him. Which is great.

What I didnt like was the negative substitions..

‘Vocal minority' my ars3!!

This has been brewing for a couple of years now and he should have been fired after Lincoln last season.

Unacceptable behaviour. Clearly aimed at the fans in my opinion. Sums this once proud club up that the man is still in a job. Hope I'm wrong but can see him being here next season. Just no faith in Evans.

The ‘rule of thumb' is if you dish it out, you simply have to learn to take it, and I'm not talking about that fist which illustrates McCarthy's gesture!!! courteous of our very own ‘court jester's' post from earlier (Lol)
McCarthy from a ITFC (anti) point of view got his just desserts (soufflé style) when a large portion of egg landed smack on his ‘boat' after they equalised, and probably regrets his actions for no other reason than that, but looking at it, as fans from other clubs, (specially Norwich) will, then McCarthys probably catapulted himself to a ‘ledge' kind of status, where as us blues fans have been nothing short of butt fecked on national TV.
I don't in all honesty really give a ‘flying one' either way, but he knew exactly what he was doing, and has issued a half arsed apology accordingly for the swearing part, but has not shown zilch responsibility to our fans who his foul mouthed abuse was clearly aimed at.
Bottom line is though, if our dozy defence had not switch off early then all this bollox would probably not be happening right now.

All you McCarthy lovers look at the terraces and see for yourself what is happening to our once great club we are run by someone who should have been allowed to own a football club and a manager who is the most arrogant individual in football .
He is foul mouthed and should have been sacked last season.
If you feel he is doing a good job you have no ambition for the club PLEASE LET HIM KNOW HOW WE FEEL WEDNESDAY EVENING

I do not think anyone has any real problem with bad language as it is part and parcel of football, however I believe what most people have a problem with is Micks attitude to the supporters who ultimately give their hard earned cash to pay for his multi-million pound contract. So when he blatantly tells those who have travelled miles at a personal cost to support the club to F@#k Off then that really is out of order.
Milne and Evans are apparently aware of a rift, but have done nothing to rectify the issue.

For gods sake, get over it. Saw a Norwich fan who was at the game. Couldn't believe the abuse he was getting from our fans. He gives some back, so what. Who here wouldn't. So bored of those offended. Always the same old names.

Having had 24 hours to reflect on this, I feel no different.

The swearing really doesn't bother me in the slightest - I swear everyday. The problem for me is that many have talked it away as a direct retaliation to the criticism of his substitutions, but it runs so much deeper.

The club is rotten from top to bottom and the routine abuse of supporters is endemic.

The vicious circle of high prices, falling attendances, lack of entertainment, lack of investment, journeymen and loans favoured over emerging talent leads to an intolerable situation for all - the supporters hit out at MM. MM, feels the frustration and hits back. The top end of the hierarchy stays quiet and does nothing. The crowds drop further, the funding drops too.

Simply getting rid of MM is perhaps some but not all of the answer. Talk on here of Danny Cowley, John McGreal etc. is fine, but do you trust the club to do it? I don't. I suspect that if/when MM goes the talk will be more of Redknapp, Holloway or Nigel Pearson.

The culture of the club has become siege like, with a wedge between the club and supporters now at the lowest point I can remember in my 40 years + of support. The lack of any intervention from IM or ME along with the [in my opinion] perfunctory apology offered MM says it all. Business as usual.

Where is the leadership? Where is the control?

......... you're right there Geddis78 - same old names, prepared to accept boring Football, no ambition, faceless owner, degenerating pitch, abuse from the Manager, etc; etc; - and you're one of them ..... !!!

And you call yourselves SUPPORTERS .. ?? - huge joke. You don't know the true meaning of the word.

We're talking IPSWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB here - once renown throughout the game, for all the right traits.

Sadly the club is rotten as are a fair few, so called, fans who think MM's behavour over the last year is acceptable.
A change is needed from top to bottom but it aint gonna happen while there are still idiots out there backing the current regime!
Sad times for a once great club, that used to have decent respectful fans but is now run by a crook, managed by a foul mouthed arrogant dick and still backed by a few clueless so called fans!

Yep, and I'll be there Wednesday with all other supporters. Said it many times, I grew up watching Beattie, Whymark, Wark etc. That was then, this is now. We are a small championship club now. Nearly all comes down to money nowadays. Shock horror Wolves and Derby are at the top. Look at the top 6 in the Premier League. Yawn yawn yes Leicester won the league but that it one outsider in many years. If you know a billionaire Arab who wants to buy a football team, send them our way. It's not going to happen and yes, I accept that we will probably be mid table. Me not turning up/booing the team etc won't help things. And having heard some of the sh1t the manager has had said to him by supporters, I deffo won't get offended by him showing some passion and giving it back to the likes of you.

I have never seen such hate in a football Managers face as McCarthys yesterday, and to think the bile was directed at his own fans. This man is a nasty bit of work, and he showed it yesterday.

However it isn't a one off as he has shown this distain and arrogance, both to fans and when questioned at press conferences.

You don't hear other Managers whinge so much about lack of financial support compared to McCarthy. You also don't hear them harking back constantly to their past achievements;or say they think they are doing a good job,as he said again yesterday.

It puzzles me as to why 'The Invisible Man' is so reclusive, and does nothing. What are his aims for the Club,as I as a shareholder and season ticket holder would like to know.Trouble is he doesn't even bother to attend AGM's.so can never be asked any questions.

What a shambolic situation.
