McCarthy Issues Apology for Language
Monday, 19th Feb 2018 13:42

Boss Mick McCarthy has issued an apology for his language while celebrating the Blues’ goal at Carrow Road yesterday, however, he reiterated that the comments, which were caught by TV cameras, were not aimed at Town’s travelling fans.

McCarthy’s “f*** off” after skipper Luke Chambers headed in what appeared to be Town’s winning goal in the 89th minute was widely interpreted to be a reaction to some supporters’ earlier derogatory chants aimed towards him following a substitution.

“It was a big moment for us, coming so late in the game. You can get carried away in situations like that,” McCarthy explained to the club site.

“To be honest, I forgot the cameras were there and can capture every word now. You don’t think about that during the game. For those who were offended by my language, I apologise.

“I’d like to reiterate though that my comments were not aimed at anyone. It was just a reaction to the goal and what it meant at that time.”

Well, I will be there on Wednesday because like others I am more interested in supporting the team and club against the opposition. Whether you want MM out or not, poisoning the atmosphere serves no purpose . If the hardliners had any wit or intelligence about them they would have used social media to have launched a campaign . Instead these lazy people use this forum. Words are cheap and largely anonymous.I have made my representations to Evans so that's my con, tribution. I suggest others do so to remind the club that a sense of belonging is what we want andthat starts with an understanding that what our manager serves up is no longer good enough for promotion.

I see the righteous few have still got their knickers in a twist.

MM was aiming his outburst directly at you Bluebore, and you Warktheline.

Oh hang on, I forgot, you two diehard uber fans of ITFC don't actually attend games. Too busy trolling away at your keyboards ?

Mick McCarthy has a terrible managerial record as these numbers prove beyond a shadow of a doubt:
http://www.barriesview.com/all-time-premier-league-manager-statistics
So not only does he have a woeful managerial record but he also has an awful attitude as he demonstrated yesterday live on TV. And he's never once beaten Norwich, it's just one failure after another. Why does anybody want a manager at this club who has failed time and time again as the historical statistics clearly show? Why don't we get a manager with a proven track record rather than one who specialises in failure?

Just to clarify, I mean he's never beaten Norwich while as our manager. Maybe he might of beaten Norwich at Sunderland or Wolves when Pterodactyls dinosaurs were still flying about in the sky but he's never delivered the one result that counts for us! For that fact alone I've had enough of him! I live in Norfolk and it's hell here, I want a manager who can give me some pride back in my team, Mick has flushed all the pride I had in my team down the toilet and I've totally had enough of his negative boring hoofball!

The Norwich fans love him, I should know as I hear it every week! I'm in the frontline here! They love him as they can see we're going nowhere (or rather backwards!) under his pitiful watch! I remember the Chase In signs, well a few more months of Mick and I expect we'll be seeing Mick In signs being waved at Carrot Road. The fact the Norwich fans love him and see him as ongoing joke says it all to me. If we had a decent manager they'd be gutted, but this manager we've got they see as a clown. Surely for that alone it's time for the clown to get out of Town!

Let's not forget MM is an honest Yorkshireman. Oh wait.....

Bert. The most sensible and effective action that can be taken is not to attend games. So far in last couple of years 6,000 approx have started to regularly take this action. No other protest or campaign would be as effective I guarantee it.

If the bad language is the problem, I don't remember too many fans being so upset when Luke Chambers dropped the F bomb on national tv after the Charlton match. I also don't remember too many fans being upset with the style of football we played when Murph was banging the goals in & we got to the play-offs.

How refreshing to see the Wigan chairman come onto tv and speak
Perhaps our great leader you take a leaf out of his book
And do the same what chance ?

@ ChurchmanBlue I wish to God we never got in the Play Offs that season as look how it ended! Living in Norfolk after that Play Off defeat was sheer hell. I'd of rather Derby won their last match of the season and spared me all the agony and insults after we lost to Norwich. If Derby had of finished 6th they might of beaten Norwich whereas we blew it because Mick always manages to find a way to blow it when it comes to Norwich! That season was a season of 2 halves. We looked fantastic up till Boxing Day, and then we went rather ordinary for the rest of the season (and so it showed when we played Norwich in the play offs). And since then it's been pretty much downhill ever since apart from the bright start Ryan Fraser gave us until Reading thumped us and then he got injured. Nothing to shout about since apart from a occasional wonder goal from the likes of Lawerence or Celina who aren't even our players and neither was Fraser. MICK OUT!!!

My nephew was rightly reprimanded by a steward for using offensive language at a home match. How can it then be acceptable for the manager to behave in this manner on prime time TV. The man is an uncouth yob with absolutely no idea on how to conduct himself in a professional manner. The lying apology to follow is laughable.

past caring anymore, Evans is a figment of imagination, McCarthy is never going to bring anything to celebrate ,cup or league. I just wait and wonder how low attendances will need to be before things change. Ive been a supporter since early 60s , but nothing would get me back on terraces now whilst McCarthy is manage and we have an owner that is completely detached from football and the financial reality of running a successful club . .

Still no sign of our Mysterious Chairman to come from behind the closed door to Reprimand Dino .(probably give him a new contract instead) He was not afraid to sack the Dark Lord ??
I see that even Anglia TV news masked out Dinos words, .

Westy - agree that he is clearly passionate and the video proves that... but seriously disagree that it is the vocal minority not happy with Mick. The attendances show that - it's not just a few people disappearing from games.

Our fans are not vocal and the majority of them have gone!!

Forget the "did he or didn,t he" comedy . McCarthy has created himself an image as being bigger than the club. Everything goes through him . He answers for everybody at the club and wants to be in the firing line . He protects his players every time even after piss poor performances and "school playground" mistakes of allowing teams to score by giving them the ball. He keeps the supporters guessing from one game to the next and always knows best. He believes he is doing a good job when 80 % of the population wants him removed. We no longer advance in cup competitions probably because he does not want the extra work load. We can not mount a strong promotion challenge either. Half the squad appears to be treated for injuries and fans have to pin their hopes on players who seem to just go through the motions. All in all it is a comfortable season for the manager & players but not the supporters who witness this laid back season fade away once again. The expectations are so low we can expect to finish below Brentford and hope to finish above Norwich. That is what this club has become. Moulded by an invisible owner and a charming manager who vents his frustrations on disillusioned supporters who have clearly had enough of this pitiful saga. .

The oldest message for Mick maybe not a northern term " When you are in a hole stop digging "

Gcon ......... still as yet to post a factual constructive post ? - after so many attempts I'd recommend you give up.

You're comparable in terms of failure, and embarrassment, as your messiah Mick. Stop making a fool of yourself, and reclaim some credibility by doing so.

This is a total unwanted embarassment at a club which has clearly lost its way and is completely out of touch with its supporters.

Once the case was proven, MM had to apologise, not with good grace but because he just had to.

Be careful what we wish for-----a new dynamic young passionate chairman with a manager who can get his team to play above themselves in a passionate, committed and positive way-----did I see some of that last night?

@gcon, you daft muppet! Blue boy over the years has I would imagine attended more games than you've had bright ideas!!!! ....that would suggest not many! Ok, than you've had hot dinners!

........ really has come to something when our Managers biggest band of support is from the Carrot Road Clan.

They love him - not a single one wants to see him leave us (no surprise why). My best friend is one who says ' MM is a great Manager - I just never want to see him anywhere near our place' - other than when we play you.

Says it all.

After 50 years of supporting my beloved Town I feel enough is enough. McCarthy, the frank talking northerner, has insulted my/ our intelligence if he thinks that we believe the remarks made were aimed at anyone other than the long suffering Ipswich fans. To those who think his language is acceptable, including the owner, I can tell you firmly that you are wrong!! Yes we all get lost in the moment and I would be lying if I said I had never sworn at a football match, however he is the manager of our club and earns lots of money in doing so. At no point would I expect him to act as he did on national television and nor should he. Added to this I hear lots of talk about limited budgets, low wages, etc, however its normally the team selection and tactics that frustrates us fans. Anyway enough said COYB
