Five Changes for Town Against Cardiff
Wednesday, 21st Feb 2018 19:22

Boss Mick McCarthy makes five changes - some of them enforced - as the Blues face Cardiff City at Portman Road.

Joe Garner and David McGoldrick miss out through injury, while Martyn Waghorn, a virtual ever-present since the early days of the season, drops to the bench.

McCarthy sticks with the three-man backline of Cameron Carter-Vickers, skipper Luke Chambers and Adam Webster with Jordan Spence returning at right wing-back for Dominic Iorfa, who is a sub. Jonas Knudsen continues on the left.

Cole Skuse is joined by Luke Hyam, making his first league start since May 2016, and Grant Ward in midfield with Callum Connolly and Stephen Gleeson on the bench. Mustapha Carayol was a late withdrawal due to illness.

Up front, Bersant Celina is likely to be behind Freddie Sears. For Cardiff, ex-Blues keeper Brian Murphy is among their subs.

Town: Bialkowski, Spence, Chambers (c), Webster, Carter-Vickers, Knudsen, Ward, Skuse, Hyam, Celina, Sears. Unused: M Crowe, Waghorn, Bru, Kenlock, Gleeson, Iorfa, Connolly.

""Cardiff: Etheridge, Morrison (c), Manga, Ralls, Zohore, Bamba, Connolly, Mendez-Laing, Damour, Grujic, Hoilett. Unused: Murphy, Feeney, Pilkington, Halford, Bryson, Wildschut, Madine. Referee: Andy Davies (Hampshire).

Our saintly manager is surely taking the pi55 so much for might give the youth a go I've not walked into Portman road for a league game ever with such a feeling of doom boredom and lack of optimism also I think most fans have listen to foul mouth mick and have fuc@ed off where is everyone sad times

Very odd selection. I like the 3 at the back, with the wingbacks, but why are Connolly and Waggy on the bench?! And Sears starting as a lone striker by the looks of it... that means definite goals then...

What a surprise Didzy injured yet again! Really not sure how many teams will want him in the summer. Too injury prone, no pace and body language is awful when things aren't going his way.

He really is just trying to piss the fans off to the max before he leaves. Poor selection!

The time to rest Waghorn is NOT when Garner and Mcgoldrick are both injured ffs!!!

As I'm not there tonight this team will play good football and win!! No sarcasm it's time sears played up front, Hyam will work tirelessly and isn't that bad a player most importantly he's ours not loanee. I like 3 at back and wingbacks give Celina a free role his favourite position. Just a shame there not kids on the bench, why is Bru on it?

So we've gone from no injury worries to this. Me thinks he may finally lost the players support?

7 defensive players on the pitch. Only one offensive player on the bench. 6 years in charge of ITFC and he still can't find the right balance between attack and defence.

Hyam has a lot to prove. Hope he's enthusiastic about his play as much as he is about his ropey hair and tatts

Ah yes Clogger,

That was a fun season wasn't it?

Particular favourite was the 0-0 at west brom and the Arsenal fans singing "boring boring Ipswich"

Iorfa actually played well on Sunday and gets dropped, Knudsen cost us by putting in a terrible ball then getting caught the wrong side of his man still selected !! Skuse who looked shattered after 60 mins still in , Conolly who also adds a goal threat and a lot younger dropped !! Tell me again there are no favourites MM 😂😂
