McCarthy: My Future? I'm Sick of Talking About It
Monday, 12th Mar 2018 14:22

Blues boss Mick McCarthy wouldn’t be drawn into discussing his future at this lunchtime's pre-match press conference, saying he is “sick of talking about” that as well as the continuing schism with a large section of the club’s fans.

McCarthy is out of contract at the end of the season but with owner Marcus Evans having an option to keep him for a further two years.

Speaking on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Life’s a Pitch on Saturday, managing director Ian Milne said that there would be some news on the management situation around the time that season ticket prices for next season are announced in a couple of weeks.

“I heard that and I’ve heard that second hand from you and now from somebody else,” McCarthy said at a spiky and unusually brief press conference when asked about Milne’s comments and any ongoing developments regarding his future.

“At the minute I just say, ‘Mind your own business and everybody else’ because I’m sick of talking about it.

“I’m sick of talking about me and I’m sick of talking about fans and reactions. Talk about the game and I’m cool. If not, I’m out of here.”

Asked whether the summer was the next time the subject ought to be broached, he responded: “I’ve just said, I’m sick of talking about it. I come in here [the media room] every time and I’m up to me tonsils with it. Talk about something else. Ask me another question.”

Didn't think the presser was that bad apart from the contract q. He is just fed up with talking about the contract situ esp when you're not allowed to discuss it. He also said a few wks ago we might know in the next 4/6wks so don't see point in asking him again. Poor frm Brenner there. He has also said in previous pressers he doesn't talk tactics. I think it shows nothing. Ppl looking for tiniest clues atm. Seen him like that before.

I'm not able to watch the video, but I hope his response has annoyed Brenner enough to now start asking Mick to justify his creepy tactics and team selections on match days.

The fans are sick of not knowing whether he's going. My season ticket renewal for example depends on him leaving. It has to be in everyone's interest now for the club to make an announcement. The clubs, the fans and Micks.

Dunno why the TWTD crew don't bring the full transcript of this unprecedented deluded jaw-droppingly nervy & just beyond astonishing Dino interview ....but anyways since this exchange imho is an absolute 'Keeper' (I will tug it away somewhere safe, and hope even my grand grand grand grand children, all ITFC Fans To-Be of course :-) :-) will enjoy reading it someday in the next century!) here it is courtesy of EADT:

http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/i-m-sick-of-talking-about-me-and-the-fans-mick-mccar

Now BESIDES all the Dino's repeating wildly & skizo-like objections to talking about quote "his future" & "the fans(a.k.a. them (pesky) f@ckers)" and him almost getting up and leaving the interview on 1 or 2 occasions, and especially for those who didn't watch it please please pay attention to the Dino's **DONALD TRUMP WORTHY** blatant lie on live television in the last paragraph (highlighted by me in all bold) of his utterly grotesque answer to this both very well-founded, very concerning and otherwise perfectly 'innocent' question here:

Q: After the game on Saturday you said it wasn't the time to go gung-ho, but with the games running out is it the time to go a little bit gung-ho to try and get the few wins needed to possibly get right up there?

MM: I think somewhere between the lines, you all get confused and all want to be tacticians now and telling me how I should be playing!

I TRY AND WIN THE GAME, EVERY SINGLE WEEK! THAT'S WHAT I DO. EVERY WEEK WE PLAY TO WIN!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, well sometimes a lie is just so so absurd & childishly constructed ...and delivered! that ehhh personally I simply can't stop laughing out loud. In fact I haven't been able to stop this particular laughing of mine over this particular grandiose lie from Mick (i.e. his so called 110% ALWAYS SWITCHED ON winning-mentality & winning-tactics inc. playing-to-win-starting-XI, playing-to-win-8-1-1-hedgehog-formation, playing-to-win-superlative-&-timely-substitutions etc. etc. 110% of the time & and in every, repeat every, single game???!!! HaHaHaHa) ever since the interview and it's driving both myself and my ehmmm 'immediate surroundings' nuts ....so if any Kind Soul out there is having an instant cure / antidote for 'Uncontrollable Non-Stop Laughing' please share it with your old @MickZzz here! Thank you in advance :-) :-) :-) :-)

If I was the owner of West Ham and believed the Club was to be relegated,i'd Take MM.Moyes finishes at the end of the season.MM has got teams out of this division but the guy needs money.Win-win,ITFC give in to the noisy minority and MM gets back to the Premiership.

We all have our views on the situation at PR. I have every sympathy for MM for the fact that he has done well with the budget and also we lost an entire midfield for all of the season, but what I can not accept is his negative tactics at home. He has driven a lot of fans mad with his team selections, substitutions and some of his press interviews. I have said before, fans need to know whether he is going or not before season tickets are renewed and the news has got to be that he is leaving, nothing else will suffice.

McCarthy just cannot help himself. What a dreadful
Response to no doubt what he does see as repetitive questions.
He is in the chair to be shot at. He is paid a lot of money to take the good and bad.
Prime ministers are in a similar position but I have not seen them react like that so why does he?
The man maybe a good coach/manager or at least once was but for goodness sake start behaving like a fifty nine year old instead of a spoilt nine year old.

Get this man out of our club!

Oh dear poor man is obviously not feeling loved by the powers that be!!! just shows big man when you act like you own the club and think you can do want you want with your boring favourites a shoe in every game and negative football and foul mouthing the fans(not just the Norwich game it's happened way too often in other interviews) he has responded today like someone under extreme pressure and maybe the goose that has laid him a golden egg season after boring season has had enough I really hope so you do not deserve to work for this football club any longer, it's not the league that's bonkers or bollicks it's your whole overpaid attitude!!

I feel a bit sorry for the journalists. Everyone turns up for the meeting, yet MM can't be asked about his future, the fans, tactics...doesn't leave much to discuss!

On Saturday morning I was thinking MM would be staying, but after Milne's comments, the performance in the 0-0, and today's press conference I am now back to thinking he will be leaving. It's mid-March now, the season ticket renewal packs have usually be sent by now so perhaps holding those off does indicate a change.

He's so sick of talking about it?!...If it's making you that nauseous Mick just come out with it then?...he looks quite dishevelled and uninterested in the interview full stop.

Personally feel now the 'swingometer' has gone the way of McCarthy leaving.

geminimustang, the noisy minority? 13,000 attending fans out of 32,000 is not a minority, mate. That's almost 60% of the stadium empty. 19000 fans not buying tickets, drinks, food or merchandise. This is no longer a minority. This is a failing football club, plain and simple. The lower this number gets, the more dire straits the club is in. If this number continues to drop, administration will be the only option, and you think things are bad now? The number one goal of Evans and the club as a whole at this point is putting butts in seats. The relationship between McCarthy and fans is beyond repair now. If he is kept on and significant changes to ticket prices are not offered, next season will be devastating.

It doesn't matter how good or bad McCarthy is as a manager, fans are staying away and that is the issue. Without fans, the club is nothing. So whether the fan outrage towards Mick is right or wrong, it's irrelevant. They aren't coming back and that is the big elephant in the room.

@alfromcol - spot on!...I believe that too but you never know, that's why my swingometer has veered the other way from a couple of weeks ago.

Perhaps he should be asked every week why he has not tried to win a game.
Why he has just tried to nullify the opposition.
Why he plays 5 defenders and 3 holding CMs at home.

People are fed up of this and are anxious to know if there is to be a change.
It seems ME knows, MM knows and so does IM, and this is why we need to be told so we can all start planning for next season !!!

I know there are so many mixed emotions about Mick, but surely these repeated questions about his future is really now not needed. I feel for him, I'm not saying he should stay or go but can't we just try and support him and the team until the end of the season, that's all the club and Mick are asking, this negatively is beyond belief, just think it could be worse, we could be Norwich!

I've got this horrible gut feeling he's staying and RIP Ipswich as the football you play with this man in charge is second rate football now!! Sorry I don't agree with the rubbish some of you say his hands are tied with who he buys or loans. The players are only as good as the man that trains them and tells them how to play!! There's a few clubs in the leagues that play really well with little money invested as some clubs around them!! Mick just go then you won't be asked anymore!!

I get the impression from MM that he's always thought he's indispensable and he'd be making the big call stay or go. I do wonder, and hope that he's been given the news that he was least expecting.
Hopefully positive changes are a matter of weeks away.

Don't think the amount of people at the game has any baring on Evans decision.
There will always be the hard core fans that go and buy season tickets so the gates won't drop much more.
I stopped going as it's the cost of matches.....it's a 200 mile round trip so about £40-£50 in petrol £5 to park the car....ticket a drink something to eat a programme so over £100 a match.....plus no entertainment.
There is too much money in the game now so I can only see me going back to the odd game here and there.
If Town do make the Prem prices will only go up not down
