McCarthy: My Future? I'm Sick of Talking About It
Monday, 12th Mar 2018 14:22

Blues boss Mick McCarthy wouldn’t be drawn into discussing his future at this lunchtime's pre-match press conference, saying he is “sick of talking about” that as well as the continuing schism with a large section of the club’s fans.

McCarthy is out of contract at the end of the season but with owner Marcus Evans having an option to keep him for a further two years.

Speaking on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Life’s a Pitch on Saturday, managing director Ian Milne said that there would be some news on the management situation around the time that season ticket prices for next season are announced in a couple of weeks.

“I heard that and I’ve heard that second hand from you and now from somebody else,” McCarthy said at a spiky and unusually brief press conference when asked about Milne’s comments and any ongoing developments regarding his future.

“At the minute I just say, ‘Mind your own business and everybody else’ because I’m sick of talking about it.

“I’m sick of talking about me and I’m sick of talking about fans and reactions. Talk about the game and I’m cool. If not, I’m out of here.”

Asked whether the summer was the next time the subject ought to be broached, he responded: “I’ve just said, I’m sick of talking about it. I come in here [the media room] every time and I’m up to me tonsils with it. Talk about something else. Ask me another question.”

Sounds like he's at breaking point to me....IF he signs a new deal then you have to wonder what his actual mentality is..why on earth would you continually put yourself through this?..surely not out of pure spite for the fans who want him out?

After refusing to discuss his future, and saying he wants to talk about the game;then goes on to refuse to talk tactics, and makes a sarky remark when quite rightly asked whether the tactics need to be the same home and away.

Also saying that he thinks Knudsen is better than Kenlock, who again had a decent game;cant do much for the lads confidence. He only plays former youth team players it seems when one of his favourites is injured.

Also may I commend you for not casting blame and your unbiased outlook.

Good idea "therein61" for Swa98 and any others (including MM) who can't manage their emotions then the book Chimp Paradox by Professor Steve Peters can be obtained from https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=book+chimp+paradox&tag=googhydr-21&

Highly recommended

Sign him up for 3 more years of abuse.

well well well ,what a difference from a few weeks ago when he was arrogantly stating that HE will decide if and when he goes, HE will think about it and make a decision , sounds very much like his bubble has been burst . Now if, as surely he must, does go, he has consider his reactions today ,when announcing the old mutual consent Chestnut. . THAT ASIDE , a previous poster said there is a rumour that Evans wants to sell ! I hadn't heard anything like that, anybody else heard anything ?

question when was the last time we had 32,000 fans in the stadium fromipswichtophoenix?

Looks like the closest was 30,003 01 Jan 2005 v West Ham United. A few sporadic 27,000+ in 2008/2009. It's been a while.

Please remember it will not be Marcus Evans who makes the decision on McCarthy but his panel of advisors. Evans knows damn all about football and only bought the club because the PLC thought it would be a doddle to get to the premiership and make loads of money. I am still convinced he will get another two years and that nothing will change.
Who would like to comment on where the club will be in March 2020 if that happens with the same (lack of) investment we have now

OMG who do you really think would have done a better job on the budget MM has had? Seriously? And any manager will play to the strengths of his squad and if that is, given the players available, more defence minded because our creative centre mids have been injured all season why are you all so "down on the guy"?

I added a constructive element to the argument that was already in the public domain yesterday not digging a poster who hadn't commented on the issue.

My money is on him staying. Regardless of people's opinions on his managerial ability, why have the club not spoken to him and coached him in Public Relations? Evans runs a hospitality business, surely he must have someone capable of coaching Mick into being nice to the fans and ignoring the criticism, instead of rising to the bait and just generally acting like it's his team and not that of the fans and the town?

If I turned up at a Press Conference looking like a unshaven homeless bum and behaved so aggressively to the questions I would have been sacked.

Aye the above is a very noble teaching from the meditation-happy religion of Buddhism :-) :-) ....

However that utterly misguided & discourteous "MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!" outburst yesterday from the dino 'Arrogantus Terribilis Rex' of is one for the Football Ages folks!

This was a press conference for crying out loud Master Muck! ....Ehmmmm and once you turn up there (and I'm pretty sure that like other managers in pro sport you are also to some extent contractual obligated to make yourself available to the football press, minimally both pre- and post- game) you are hence very much **SUPPOSE TO** answer a variety of questions deemed of SPECIAL RELEVANCE to the fans of this here football club i.e. you know them pesky "f@ckers" who ultimately are the ones who bloody facilitate your lofty pay cheque, Sherlock! ---- and whether you are staying or going incl. involuntarily being 'shown the door' at season's end particularly in a time where ST renewal are about to arrive in the mail, as well as so called "reactions" to both on-the-field performances & your various self-perceived super genius football dispositions & lastly of course also your take on the increasing & seriously UNDERMINING strained relationship with said lifeblood (the fans) of the club, is all obviously VERY RELEVANT questions in and of themselves, Sherlock! ----- and not act both childishly, rude and most of all more or less like some hilarious wannabe 'Wise Guy' from some gangsta B-Movie , all jumpy & sneering while frantically ready to decline to answer much of anything!, as in taking the proverbial "Fifth"! at the slightest non-comfortable question.

Naaah neither them awesome sport journalists nor us fans should accept to be taught to "Mind Our Own Business" is this very pivotal matter ....But in closing and of course staying on this very subject of MINDING, ehmmmm do take special care if you pass any Mental Hospitals:
