Town Confirm Klug Caretaker-Manager
Wednesday, 11th Apr 2018 08:24

Town have confirmed that academy head of coaching and player development Bryan Klug will take charge of the first team following the departures of Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor after last night’s 1-0 victory over Barnsley.

Klug, who was Jim Magilton’s assistant manager between 2006 and 2008, was previously in caretaker charge following the Northern Irishman’s departure in 2009, although only briefly as Roy Keane was brought in soon afterwards.

Prior to that the 57-year-old assisted Tony Mowbray when he was caretaker-boss after George Burley’s exit in 2002.

It’s understood Geraint Williams, who has been working at the academy in recent months, will assist Klug in his temporary role.

It will be really interesting to see if there is much change in the way we play under the guidance of Klug and Williams between now and the end of the season. Hoping a few of the youngsters get a chance in the last few games. It would be exciting to see Cotter, Nydam and Folami all start against Forest and Kenlock at left back/wingback too!!

Milne on the radio just now, OMG what a waste of money. Can't say anything without Evans and he said they only speak one a month!
Also...Who knew we had a Director of Football at the club? 😂
This club is rotten from top to bottom. So sad.

get the youngsters back from loans and lets move forward, we don't need a big name manager we want some one who is Ipswich.

Good luck Bryan. The best man to take charge temporarily. Hopefully he'll use some of the young lads between now and May.

Tractor not big: you can't recall loans outside of the transfer window, although I agree with the sentiment

All the best Bryan! Looking forward to some youngsters getting some minutes. The U23's have been my main source of optimism this year, we've got some talent there for sure

This is what we all were asking for MM has gone and we have a proper Ipswich man (albeit temporarily) in charge of the team - lets all get behind Bryan and the team and have a positive end to the season, i'll be going back now ! :)

Now that the Klug has been put back in maybe the fans will stop draining away.

Please stop playing players who won't be at PR next season. Please give Crowe a game if he is to be at the club next season. I don't mind if we lose as long as we try to play decent football & both the club & the young players learn something. I think the home crowd would get behind this.

At last !! As is said above this should have happened 2 weeks back - what did anyone gain by the way it was dealt with
Anyway - moving forward now - positive times ahead
The best thing about this club- on the playing side , at the moment , is our Academy - some really good young players coming through and to give MM credit we may also have a couple of decent recent young additions
Injuries have forced our hand BUT lets see Folami , Morris , Drinan given a run out -
GOOD LUCK BRYAN !!

I wouldn't put it past him being named permanent new boss if he gets a decent showing over next few games.

i reckon if this nanagement has 3 defeats then the poisonous fans will then start in them. there havx been youngsters in the team the loan players that are out playing lower level football are getting experience and cannot come back they would me mullered at this level. Everyone says fan's will now return dont think that will be so as stated before our fans deserve were we are middle table team. That is best the club can hope for the difference in the main is the suppoort the top teams have great support even that lot down the road deserve morre than us as the support is so much better the fans have ruined our once great club imo

Good luck to Brian and all the coaching staff. Right decision made in totally the wrong way. For all his faults, Mick deserved a better send off.
Who said give Crowe a game?! Bart hasn't signed a new contract yet and is the only confident thing about our defence - do not drop him EVER!
