Knudsen: I Don't Like the Way Fans Treated Mick
Friday, 20th Apr 2018 11:57

Defender Jonas Knudsen has issued a staunch defence of former manager Mick McCarthy and says he’s unhappy with the way supporters treated him prior to his recent Portman Road exit.

“Some fans don’t want to hear it but everybody here loved Mick and nobody wanted him to leave,” The Danish international, who admitted earlier in the month that McCarthy’s exit could have some impact on his future, told The Sun.

“I don’t like the way they treated him - if you look at what he had done for the club, they have to be pleased with that.

“But they don’t want to hear that and it wasn’t right the way they did it. If we didn’t have him last year, we could have been in trouble. Maybe they have to be careful what they wish for.”

Knudsen, 25, was signed by McCarthy in the summer of 2015 from hometown club Esbjerg fB.

People will soon start realising the truth post-McCarthy.

Seems like a nice bloke and nothing against him personally but an average footballer at best and technically very limited. Take what we can get for him i say and replace him with someone who can pass a football.

@Taricco_Fan Mr Klug is yesterday's man. Just like Wenger in Arsenal. Our academy is worse than other clubs of our size. McCarthy was poor but just think if our youngsters were as good as some think they are we would end up in Premier League without being forced to spend money in transfer market.

This is why Evans should have got his new man in place for remainder of season! Some of these players are 'entrenched Mickites' and need to be shown door ASAP if unwilling to 'conform' going forward! McCarthy's track record 'leaving clubs' speaks volumes! Prevention is better than cure!

I don't always agree with the people I work for, but they pay my wages , button your lip knuckle down and get on with what you're paid to do ,

How dare Jonas answer a question honestly? How dare he say things so many people on here don't agree with? He's not good enough to have an opinion. In fact, because he has disagreed with us, he is rubbish! Get rid of him! Get out of our club now! And take your proper bloke mates with you! Seriously, you couldn't make up some of the stuff on here.

Geddis, your continued ‘appeasement' towards McCarthy and co is something ‘that couldn't be made up'....joke!

Warktheline, read my post again. It was nothing to do with McCarthy. It was to do with ‘fans' slaughtering one of our players for having an honest opinion. Folks like you have moaned all year if a player defends a poor performance and say they have been told what to say by the club. Now we have an interview with a player where there is no agenda other than his personal opinion. And fair minded keyboard fans lay into him because he says something they don't like. On a side issue, are we welcoming you back to Portman Road next year?

@geddis, reread my post again 'co' ! Yes certainly looking forward to returning to Portman Rd next season . Have the misfortune of being dragged to Watford v Palace today with my youngest, but in return he's promised to come to Suffolk next campaign to 'test the water'!!!

Well MR Knudsen I don't like the way you players and your past manager have treated the supporters over the past couple of seasons.
A combination of disrespect and sub standard performances on the field but I don't feel the need to spout pointless comments about it! So forget what's gone and look ahead to next season.

He needs to leave this subject alone now and move on but all the posts stating he is not good enough or Kenlock can do better are wrong IMO. He has improved this season that is why he got international recognition at full level this proves his worth not many town players can say that apart from our saviour Bart and Kenlock has struggled more than not when played. We need players like Knudsen and Bart to stay and build around them. Lets just move on and support all at Town instead of slating anyone who dares talk to the press.

Speaks volumes about the lack of ambition Mick installed throughout the club that we could be treading water for 3 seasons and apparently none of the players had any objections to that.

Hard to see how any manager could do more damage than entrenching the acceptance of mediocrity and then stoking player resentment of the club's fans. If Knudsen is representative of the others the new boss has a hell of a job on his hands.

Keep digging Jonas. Your problem is you know a new manager might not like your hoofs and giving possession away constantly.

I'm confused if it was only a minority that sang songs and wanted McCarthy gone why did the majority not sing up? McCarthy's name wasn't sung in 2 years I'm getting a bit sick of this worshipping a manager who's left under a cloud!!!

Goodbye Knudsen...very average player and in the sterile Mccarthy mold and hopefully next season will be gone and replaced by Kenlock full time...much much better player than him.
