Redknapp Keen on Town Job
Thursday, 26th Apr 2018 09:43

Much-travelled veteran boss Harry Redknapp has expressed his interest in the Town job.

The 71-year-old, who is known to be a friend of Marcus Evans and is understood to have been one of those the Blues owner took advice from when appointing previous bosses, said he’d be keen on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT and urged Evans to call him.

“It’s a real good club and I know the owner Marcus Evans. He’s got my number and I’m here Marcus!” he said.

How serious Redknapp might be about taking on the Town job or another management role elsewhere remains to be seen having hinted at retirement after leaving Birmingham in September last year.

Either way, despite the connection with Evans, Redknapp, whose other previous clubs include the Hammers, Tottenham, Portsmouth (twice) , Southampton, QPR and AFC Bournemouth as well as the Jordanian national team, seems highly unlikely to be a leading contender to take over at Town. More on the current speculation regarding the Blues manager's job here.

Appoint this man & he will bankrupt us like Pompey. Not forgetting the triple relegations
Fortunately there is as much truth in this story as Wenger being our next manager !!!

Between now and the end of May beginning of June there are going top be a few more interested or linked to the job, currently there seems to be more I'd want us to keep clear of, Redknapp being one of them...

Did he say this leaning out the window of his Range Rover?

Nope. The bloke's got a track record of leaving football clubs in ruin and is just a bit of a chancer.

It was good to read that Marcus has not been in touch with 'Our Arry',either to ask his advice;or heaven help us,to take over as Manager.

Not sure that I would even want him as Director of Football, although he has a lot of contacts in the game.At 71 should think about complete retirement,as he is nearly as old as me for goodness sake.

I'd rather see the Chuckle brothers or Dipsy & La la in charge than Arry, Hope Alan told him where to go

I wouldn't want Redknapp as manager but I'm not against him having some kind of advisory role to a younger inexperienced manager like Gerrard or Lampard. Wether you like him or not he is experienced

ME says he's looking to appoint the next manager end of May, start of June, so another month of this speculation to go...

Redknapp not for me. Been a good manager over the years, however we need to be looking at younger up-and-coming managers who would offer the kind of football that's been lacking at PR for ages, i.e. attractive, passing, non-hoofing, exciting football, the kind that George Burley promoted and had so much success with. ME said it himself in his interview that he thinks that's important.

I wouldn't mind betting that we'll be nicely surprised with the next appointment.

I think Cowley and Jones can be ruled out.

Mogga and Cool seem unlikely although Cook is now front runner with the bookies...... the field narrows

Please no. Need a change, a lift. Our greatest days were not delivered by experienced managers.
Sir Alf managed part-timers in ZImbabwe before Town
Sir Bobby got Fulham relegated to Div 2 in his only job before Town.

Let's try something different. Gary White is not getting a look in but would be very interesting....and is apparently interested.
