QPR, Bolton and Blackburn Among Clubs Linked With McGoldrick
Friday, 11th May 2018 16:51

QPR, Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers are among the clubs reported to be keen to sign departing Blues striker David McGoldrick this summer.

According to The Sun, the trio are set to offer terms to the out-of-contract 30-year-old Irish international, who TWTD revealed on Tuesday is leaving Portman Road, with a further two unnamed sides also interested.

McGoldrick turned down a £500,000 deadline day move to Bolton, while Cardiff, who subsequently won promotion to the Premier League, were also among those to show interest in January, along with Aston Villa.

Of course there will be interest but he is only a bit player with his injury record. Some clubs could easily afford him as just that. We need players that will stay fit which has been a big issue for us this season.

Good luck to them, he cost us about £25k per game

Good luck to him as well some great memories including that great goal against Leicester that at very least helped save us from relegation. Hope you can keep fit David.

Hopefully mcgoldrick find a club pretty swiftly. This will also go for the likes of hyam. Despite there in injury records, they never really caused the club any real problems. Furthermore it's never nice to see people out of work.

Not surprised - could be an absolute gem signing for someone who plays him correctly ... !!

The injuries MAY just become less too .... !!!

And there is the theory that our heavy pitch has not helped injury prone players !

I think we all like him as a player but we all know he is always injured..

Good decision to release him but I hope he gets a good club and a good deal and wish him all the best. In the meantime roll on the new manager, new ideas & a positive attitude at our club!

COYB!

Blueboy - it's 'fewer' not 'less'.
Just saying....

QPR Bolton Blackburn...lets be honest not exactly top sides really. Shows his standard of steady championship striker. Appreciate what he's done here and wish he didn't have the injuries he's had but he isn't the Same player now as a few years ago.

Good luck to the man. He's a professional footballer. Never did anything unprofessional that I can recall. Exciting to watch too.

McGoldrick won't be anyone's gem signing because he has always been and will continue to be an injured player. Still he'll get one last big pay packet gor just sitting on another Clubs rehab plinth . Good luck to whoever signs him - they'll need it!

I will remember him as the class Town player of the last few years. During some of the lowest times he was the only bright light. I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

His injury record is very poor. Throughout his career. We simply can't afford someone who plays arounfpdaround half a season. Particularly on his wages,

Yet, we must now spend every penny of this wage saving on top quality replacements.

Best player on the pitch in the early days and his name fits in a song...good player but as above should of taken the money from Leicester....all these comings and goings makes me believe a new manager has already been chosen...

Packed up early this season. Was he even injured? Was he preparing for his next move? did he down tools? Seemed to put himself and international duty before ITFC. Seemed he decided if he could be bothered to play. And what did he achieve in 5 years at ITFC? Can you remember any important goals or turning a game. No ? I can't either.
These clubs are welcome to him.

Personally glad to see the back of him. Without doubt the most overrated player that's been on our books in recent times. Constantly on the treatment table, aimlessly wanders around the pitch during the warm ups, and for a striker scores nowhere near enough goals. He isn't a patch on our previous frontmen Stead, Lee, Walters, even Scotland.

I actually think McGoldrick could be a real gem of a signing and am still disappointed we have made him surplus to requirements.
Played in the right position and trained correctly not run into the ground (look at Steven Taylor) could be very effective in the Championship, just a shame it is not with us.
Will cost more than £500k to replace him
