QPR, Bolton and Blackburn Among Clubs Linked With McGoldrick
Friday, 11th May 2018 16:51

QPR, Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers are among the clubs reported to be keen to sign departing Blues striker David McGoldrick this summer.

According to The Sun, the trio are set to offer terms to the out-of-contract 30-year-old Irish international, who TWTD revealed on Tuesday is leaving Portman Road, with a further two unnamed sides also interested.

McGoldrick turned down a £500,000 deadline day move to Bolton, while Cardiff, who subsequently won promotion to the Premier League, were also among those to show interest in January, along with Aston Villa.

Wish him well it looks like another club will be paying his medical bills and wages. Hopefully we can replace him with someone who is good enough and fit enough to play in all games if needed.

yes McG's goal at home against Leicester in march 2013 was the deciding moment of the season. without those 3 pts we would have ended up 15th...……………

one memorable goal in 5 years

I am pleased that clubs are already showing an interest in him because he was a good player for us in the early days.Players like him need to be played in the right position, and think he suffered along with Freddie under the previous manager.

Agree with the decision to release him because of his age and injury record, which doesn't normally improve when you are over 30.Jonny Williams a lovely chap and talented;but blighted by injury.Last time I heard he was playing for Milton Keynes who have just been relegated;so will probably end up in an inferior club to Ipswich now.

But best of luck wherever he goes.

I'm gonna miss him a whole bunch. Our most creative player for eons and the guy that made the team tick. I don;t understand why we don't do a jack wilshere and offer him less money to stay. If Bishop, Huws and Didz were fit at the same time we might actually be able to play football. When Didz is on song everything good goes through him.

Just read Parkinhair's comment again. Is this guys a mentalist? Didzy wasn't a patch on Stead, Lee or Scotland? Is he kidding. out of that lot Johnny Walters was the only one who posed the consistent threat. Didzy is a different type of player. He was our playmaker.

Highly talented player and sad to see him go but, of course, injured very frequently. I have wondered if the training regime was too hard for him and also talented players get targeted for unsavoury attention by the opposition. I hope that he can be adequately replaced by someone of similar calibre who is able to play at least 35 games per season.
Good to hear Seasider's comment regarding Jonny Williams getting some playing time...
