Certainly seems to have impressed the Rotherham fans and appears he has benefited from a season playing regular football. I was one of those who couldn't understand the logic of loaning him out then loaning a lesser player (Iorfa) in but hopefully he will be back here next season raring to go.

I've always rated Josh & I was disappointed that he was sent out on loan as I personally think he is good enough to compete in the first team. On the upside he has had plenty of game time at Rotherham & I hope that the new Manager recognises that he is a good player & plays him regularly for Town. Sending him to Rotherham & getting in Iorfa on loan was a total shocker for me!

Good for him, was another of McCarthy's baffling decisions, but Josh has made most of his time away,and it wont have done him any harm, plus he could get his day at Wembley .Hopefully he will be back in the fold next season .

Think Rotherham will pull through tonight and should give Shrewsbury a good game at Wembley. Josh has obviously come on leaps and bounds since being at Rotherham, looking forward to him coming back next year.
On a side note, always liked Jon Taylor for Rotherham, think he is a very aggressive winger, would like to see Town take a look at him over the summer.

Forgot about him, but i rated him!

Kind of baffled with comments saying sending Emmanuel on loan was a bad idea. He has improved tremendously and will come back to us a far better player, with bags of experience, having won an individual award for his loan club and possibly having achieved promotion through a Wembley final. He has become a better player BECAUSE of the loan and opportunity to play regularly, so getting Iorfa in as cover, to me at least, was a good move. Why not let one of our young, inexperienced players develop elsewhere without the pressure of having to perform in a struggling team? This is what the loan system is for, to develop players where it is not possible within your own squad. He will come back to us and rightly challenge for a starting eleven spot and will be like a brand new signing. I think McCarthy deserves credit for a good move regarding the loan and would imagine Emmanuel would probably say the move was the best thing for his career.

Re. Allardyce. Alot of negativity surrounding him at present but I think he was unfairly treated at Everton and did a good job turning their season around. Would imagine a Prem club would still give him a chance and that he would not consider a step down to the championship but I for one, would consider it a good appointment.

Hurst remains my first choice though.

Mightytown. Why baffled? He would've been the best right back at the club had he not been loaned out. Likely he would've improved just as much and also would've had a year of experience at a higher level. When we lod him out we replaced him with someone who weakened our squad.

If we get Big Sam I think I'll cancel the Direct Debit again.

I also disagree Mightytown , Iorfa was poor at best and Josh would imo been better playing , they say you get better by playing against better players so staying with us would have achieved that , saved the money wasted on Iorfa , and was we really a struggling team?? always look destined for mid table and that is where we finished , so agree with above posters i think this was a loan that Josh or the club did not need , he could have stayed here and played , but what money we do have was spent on a lesser player.
Look at all the players who amounted to nothing that MM brought in , loads of them and they all cost money is some way so to say he had no money is a bit disingenuous and this is a prime example of that.

Ah but Iorfa was a Wolves player was he not ?

I totally get what you're saying and almost put in my original post that I understood the argument that he could have developed playing for us (but I was trying to keep it short!).

My feelings are that Emmanuel is not quite comparable with Kenlock - who looks more advanced in his development as a player. So, it wouldn't have necessarily been certain that he would get an extended run of games in the side.

I think sometimes the reality is that if a player is not quite ready for the first team; and the championship is a pretty tough league, then their development can become stagnant, so the option to loan players out becomes incredibly useful.

Take Ryan Fraser for example, when we had him on loan he had an opportunity to progress that might not have been available to him at that time at Bournemouth, now he is doing really well.

Our season started ok-ish and then fairly quickly dripped back into the same old mediocrity we have all been frustrated with for so long. I don't think we would have been that much better with Emmanuel in the squad but I do think we will be better off having him back after his excellent year on loan.

That's why I said I was somewhat baffled by the negative reaction to his loan, because it seems to have worked out really well and fingers crossed we'll start the season with Emmanuel as first choice right back!

I didn't actually mention anything about Mick not having any money!

The main factor in sending players out on loan is to gain valuable match experience, something you won't learn from a training ground or warming the bench. Josh's appearances would have been limited last season, whether that's down to McCarthys lack of trust in the youth, or accommodating other teams loanees is pretty irrelevant now, so with the benefit of hindsight, it was a good move in my book.

Just seen the latest score and 2-0 to Rotherham. Lets not talk about if it were a good move or not. Young josh, enjoy your day at wembley and milk it as much as possible.
