Blues right-back Josh Emmanuel and his loan club Rotherham beat Scunthorpe 2-0 in the second leg of their play-off semi-final at the New York Stadium and 4-2 on aggregate to reach the final at Wembley.

Emmanuel played the full 90 minutes and created the Millers’ second goal - as he had done in the first leg - and was named the sponsors’ man of the match.

The Millers will face Town management contender Paul Hurst’s Shrewsbury at Wembley on Sunday 27th May.

Emmanuel has spent the season with Rotherham, making 36 starts and one sub appearances without scoring.

The 20-year-old academy product, who is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2019 with the club having an option for a further season, recently picked up Rotherham’s Young Player of the Year award.

Ironic really that Keifer Moore was doing so well for Rotherham and is one of the reasons they are in the play offs. Signed by Barnsley who will be in League 1 next season whereas Rotherham, who wanted to keep him, could be in the Championship and we made quite a bit of money from the sale!

Essexnblue added 08:44 - May 17 Nice to go to Wembley and good reward for a seasons graft learning the game and I agree with Monkey Blue, MM deserves the credit for sending him out to get experience. However from what I have seen, it will be tough back at ITFC as IMO Cotter is a far superior player. Still better to have 2 good uns than none.

BlueBlood90 added 12:33 - May 17 I've always like Emmanuel but agreed at the time that a loan move was needed. He looked great going forward for us but was very vulnerable getting back and defending. Judging by last nights performance, he's going to return a far better player than the one that left which is great news. Hopefully Cotter and Emmanuel can battle it out for that right back position. I don't think either are miles away from being better than Iorfa or Spence were last year.

brian_a_mul added 22:49 - May 17 The big thing for me is that Josh has proven he has the stamina and endurance to play a full season in a very competitive league and consistantly keep his performances up. He is a Championship quality player now, fantastic!
