St Mirren: No Contact From Sunderland Regarding Ross
Wednesday, 23rd May 2018 14:24

St Mirren manager Jack Ross’s move to Sunderland has been called into question by Buddies’ chairman Gordon Scott, who says his club have received no contact from the Black Cats regarding the 41-year-old, who is also one of two bosses being eyed by Town along with Shrewsbury's Paul Hurst.

Widespread reports earlier this lunchtime indicated that Ross is the man who has agreed terms with Sunderland’s new owners, although the Wearsiders are still to announce the identity of their new boss.

"There has been no contact from Sunderland with us and Jack is on holiday. So unless there is some major skulduggery going on then it's nonsense,” Scott insisted.

"To hold talks with Jack, we would have to grant permission, as has been the case with Ipswich and Barnsley recently. But we've had no contact from Sunderland at all."

Earlier new Sunderland chairman Stewart Donald had told talkSPORT that developments regarding their management situation are close: "I am expecting there to be news on that very soon.

"We've agreed terms and literally the contracts are with the lawyers. The man in question is absolutely thrilled, which is what we want, and I'm absolutely delighted that he's coming, so that's exciting for us. I'm hoping that by the end of the day, we can reveal that."

I'm sure Sunderland are a better prospect then us for him. Bigger club, bigger budget, closer to his native Scotland. Good luck to the guy.

How on earth are Sunderland a bigger club? Get in the sea Sunderland, you League 1 minnows.

Sounds a good way to start your tenure as Sunderland owner announcing a new manager when you haven't asked the parent club permission. Sacked by October if he goes to that mad house.

Some fans are deluded. We need to be astute in the manager we next appoint. Some names just aren't proven so ME is weighing up lots of options. I'm sure there are good reasons why ME chose not to offer or not to offer what Sunderland have. Think about it guys!!!!! Let ME take his time and get the right guy....NOT the first guy you hear mentioned.

I feel Ross's perspective going to Sunderland in league one (where they are a bigger fish in their respective league than us) will probably 'feel' like an easier target to get promotion than with us and that aside will probably get paid fairly similar (if not more) and a budget compared to the likes of clubs like Scunthorpe, Southend and Blackpool etc will be much larger would be the wise choice to keep his good managerial record on track...

Sunderland's Stadium of Light holds 48,707 . They are a massive club compared to us, unfortunately. We cannot compete, so if it is Jack Ross, good luck to him. They will have funds a plenty to spend as well. Sunderland was also a big enough pull for Chris Coleman to give up the Wales job.

If Ross has held talks with Sunderland without St Mirren's permission then thats not the type of man we want running our club

Relax guys, some fans acting like you've missed out on something on eBay

If Ross has gone to Sunderland it says plenty about him too.

In the meantime, try and keep your marbles ITFC fans.

I trust ME who's actually speaking to all these people, and many more, than all these posters on here telling him to hire someone they hadn't even heard of before this process started, it's embarrassing.

Sunderland wont get 48707 fans in League 1..the makems have the worst fans in football..they walk out on their team before halftime ..they'll be lucky to get 5707..

Something just doesn't feel right about this situation....there are reports out there that Sunderland are paying St Mirren 50k in compensation........an interesting twist considering ow Ross had portrayed himself the last couple of weeks.

Paul Hurst for me anyway. Maybe it just isn't Jack Ross. No names were mentioned. In addition to that, the St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott is a very open and honest man by all accounts. Confirmed the stories of Ipswich and Barnsley, would be no reason to lie about Sunderland now. I actually think, it could well be Chris Coleman going back. Paul Hurst for me anyway!

Form New Sunderland Chairman.....Donald did rule out a number of names including returns for Chris Coleman, Mick McCarthy or any other former Sunderland boss, Neil Lennon, or handing either Black Cats hero Kevin Phillips or former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard their first managerial roles, while ex-Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew was also discounted, as was the manager of Donald's former club Eastleigh, Richard Hill.

Posted on previous story but i believe as relevant this time

I don't know what people actually want here other than possibly a scapegoat.
a: no one actually knows if Ross has taken the job at Sunderland
b: no one actually knows who has been interviewed or is on the list
c: no one actually knows if Ross was offered the job let alone turned it down.
d: very few people actually know anything about Ross other than what they have read AFTER his name came up, yet suddenly; he's the man for us
e: no-one know if ME has actually spoken to Hurst or if he is really on the list.
f: none actually knows what ME is offering in monetary terms so rather pointless saying whatever it is its not enough.

Honestly people, we don't know anything really, so slagging ME off esp when he always said end of May beginning of June is when he would appoint is somewhat pathetic. We simply have to wait and see. Certainly the way to get slagged off is to appoint the wrong man due to pressure from fans. IF we did get Ross and he failed in his job, then i wonder how many would have a go at Evans then. I'm not ME's greatest supporter but I do know about interviewing. Sometimes the one you want walks away for some reason and you have to accept it. However in this case we don't even know if he was the one he wanted.

Nothing we, as fans, can do but wait and see.

Write his managerial achievements down on the back of a fag packet and read them to yourselves... how over 70percent are calling for him as their favourite is beyond me!! I agree his age and up and coming nature is what we are after but there are plenty more with the same or more experience and prospects available... if we got him, good,I'll support him, but him not gonna lose any sleep over him being at Sunderland...

SSN reporter outside stadium of light just been on live saying despite St Mirren saying no contact he understands Ross has signed a 2 year deal with Sunderland. As others have said if this is true and Ross has done this behind St Mirren back then is he the type of character we want to take us forward.
