Gleeson Set to Join Aberdeen
Wednesday, 13th Jun 2018 09:53

Midfielder Stephen Gleeson, who left the Blues at the end of the season, is set to join Scottish Premiership Aberdeen, according to widespread reports in Scotland.

Irish international Gleeson, 29, made five starts and five sub appearances for Town having signed a short-term deal in January after his Birmingham contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Good luck to him. In his short time here I found some of his deliveries into the area really good.

If he can take a dozen or so of the other journeymen dross in our squad with him, so much the better.

Gleeson probably wasn't brought in to be regular starter but to provide squad cover. I wasn't a huge fan but I have to credit Mick with some other excellent loan signings. Tom Lawrence and Ryan Fraser were both fantastic and he made some other shrewd ones such as Callum Connolly and Cameron Carter-Vickers. I was also a big fan of Celina, if I had to have a pop at Mick on that one it would only be he didn't use him perhaps enough, such as against Norwich. But overall, even though I wasn't a fan of what I sometimes thought was a stubborn belligerent attitude from Mick, I would have to defend the fact he did come up with some very good loan signings and on a restricted budget. I think it's unfair to argue otherwise. I was also very impressed by Carayol last season before he got injured and was sorry to see him go.

Can't help thinking we've lost out here and Gleeson could have done a job for us in the same way Drissa Diablo, Georges Santos and Mark Fish once did for the club.

Bru off to sunny Cyprus and Gleeson of to Aberbloodydeen.

You need to change your agent Stephen.

Northstandveteran: European football, a decent part of the world to live in, possibly more regular starts than at Town, wouldn't say his agent did a bad job.

Although having visited Aberdeen and Cyprus, I would prefer Bru's swimming pool to Gleesons 😁

To be fair on Gleeson, his first couple of appearances were good. After that he just faded away. Aberdeen played Apollon last season in the Europa, so he could meet up with Bru once again.

Monkey_blue don't totally disagree however signing over 80 players in 5 years there are a hell of a lot more that didnt succeed than did and for every Ming's there's a Nouble and Douglas.

Good luck to him. But I'm glad he's not staying with us. Below average.
