Bialkowski's Poland Lose World Cup Opener Tuesday, 19th Jun 2018 18:29 Blues keeper Bartosz Bialkowski was an unused sub as his Poland side lost 2-1 to Senegal in their World Cup Group H opener in Moscow this afternoon. Thiago Cionek’s own goal gave the Senegal a 1-0 lead on 38, then M’Baye Niang added a second on the hour following a series of Polish defensive errors. Grzegorz Krychowiak pulled one back for Poland with four minutes remaining. Once-capped Bialkowski, 30, hadn’t been expected to play with Juventus number one Wojciech Szczesny starting and Swansea’s Lukasz Fabianski the second choice keeper in the 23-man squad. Earlier in the same group, Japan beat Colombia by the same scoreline, the South Americans having been reduced to 10 men in the third minute.
