Town Make Interview Offer to Poundworld Staff
Tuesday, 19th Jun 2018 21:35

Town have offered interviews to locally-based Poundworld staff who find themselves out of work, the bargain chain having gone into administration with a number of employees laid off.

The initiative was instigated by Blues director of retail Lee Hyde via Twitter earlier today.

Town are currently advertising several off-field vacancies, including some in their Planet Blue store.

Great that the club is looking to help the community in times of , for some, of uncertainty and adversity. WELL DONE!

Well done ITFC. These are very uncertain times for many people with jobs being lost wholesale - and believe me, we've seen nothing yet ..... !!!

All very well for people to be smug if they are retired, or rich enough not to be concerned about earning a living - not everyone is fortunate enough to be in either of these categories.

This is the ITFC we always were.

I see where you ate coming from Blueboy but millions of retired people ate on such small pensions they would no doubt rather be working. Many dont have company pensions. Many wrte in company pensions but lost it when their companies went out of business. Changes in pension legislation have fortunately helped protect the pension rights of more recent retirees who were with failed companies.

Just employers taking advantage of cheap labour. The young ones don't even get £7.20 an hour nor a proper contract. Wrecks whatever benefits they are entitled to as well.
No proper training no prospects etc

Whilst a guarantee of an interview for ex-Poundworld staff is great, especially as many might not get through to an interview stage normally, the cynic in me can't help but think this is riding on the back of a nice bit of current hype PR feel-good rather than a heart-felt concern for local ex-Poundworld staff. Surely there are hundreds of people in the local community facing similar dilemas that aren't in the public eye that need interviews and may be better suited? Are ITFC making a call out to them too and guaranteeing them interviews?

Scouting in Poundland....Next level Marcus Evans!
I did worry when Hurst said he was having to sell players before considering lower league offerings.

Regardless of circumstance the club should be commended. A tough environment on the high st atm, great to see the club doing something good locally

When we talk about Town being a family club. This is exactly what we mean. The club matters both on the pitch and off. It really feels like things may be changing for the better.
