Blackpool After Seven Figures for Town Target Tilt Sunday, 8th Jul 2018 15:14
Town are reported to have offered Blackpool £550,000 for central defender Curtis Tilt but with the Tangerines said to want £1 million for the 26-year-old.
The Blues were first mentioned in connection with a bid for Tilt late last month before reports of an offer resurfaced on Friday.
"According to the Daily Mirror the Blues have tabled £550,000 but with the Tangerines hoping for an auction to push the fee up to seven figures.
Reading, QPR and Portsmouth are among the other clubs also believed to be eyeing the left-sided centre-half, who has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road.
Walsall-born Tilt played in non-league for Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, AFC Telford Town, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers (loan) before joining Blackpool last summer.
He made 45 starts for the League One side in 2017/18, his first EFL campaign, scoring once and picking up three Seasiders’ player of the season gongs.
New Blues manager Paul Hurst, who is said to have been interested in Tilt since his time as Shrewsbury boss, is very much in the market for another central defender with Adam Webster having departed for Bristol City.

If he is a decent player, and all reports suggest he is. Pay the the extra 450k , we still have 2.5m from Webster sale for other targets. Can't see how we can be taken seriously as a championship club if we are not prepared to stump up 1m for a player we need.
The market is inflated and Evans st al have to adapt to it. After landing £4.5 M + this pre season, plus ten or so squad players moving on, then there should be ample funds to sign top replacements. If this PHs number one defensive target then get the deal done.
Blackpool will know: 1) we are desperate for centre-backs, 2) we have money (e.g. from the sale of Webster), 3) that there are other clubs interested in him.
True, the player has only a year left on his contract (when he can leave for free). Unfortunately, such is our desperation in this area that we can't wait. They will play it very hard.
I'm sure Hurst knows how much he wants to pay for this guy. Something like £650k plus add-ons wouldn't be too far from what they're looking for and a very fair price for a mid-table league one defender. Blackpool have just got CB Paudie O'connor (20) on a season long loan from Leeds so they're probably not desperate to hang on to him. If another club are prepared to pay silly money let them get in with it.
The picture isn't that simple....I'd say only 11 of the players above were 1st team squad players. Plus we have a number of players (Bishop, Adeyemi, Huws) returning from injury, a few youngsters (Woolfenden, Cotter, Folami, Mckendry) ready to play first team football and Chabolah loaned from Chelsea and Roberts on a free. IMO we need only 5/6 signings to compensate for losses above...not the 15 that is being suggested.
@trickytarricco
We really don't have a lot of money to play around with. 1 million is a huge investment.
@rffretwell
We aren't Championship paupers...there are clubs who pay less on wages than us.
I am sure that 650k + a couple of incentives will seal the deal. Evans is a business man and knows that the first bid wont be accepted. All part of the game. Doubt he would even have got into a bidding war if he did not have and/or want to release the extra funds to make the deal happen. As far as I am concerned if Hurst thinks he is good enough then "In Hurst We Trust" as the new saying goes !.
Give 'em the seven figures they're asking for. They can have Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey. Wait, Dopey left four games before the end of last season and took Happy with him. We've got five for them.
#Muccletonjoe Really sorry didn't mean to down your comment (butter fingers on mobile phone!). It won't let me change it now. I agree that we need to show intent by upping our offer if PH wants this player.
I have a great deal of faith in Paul and his team with all the dealings that I hope will be happening over the next few weeks,but I am concerned about the experience within the squad. I'm all for having young players within the team but you must also have experienced players and a strong captain to whom the youngsters can look to. Paul I hope must be aware of this so we just have to believe in his judgement.If Tilt is the right sort of player Paul wants I'm sure Mr.Evans will see the deal through,or I hope he does.Just one thing that concerns me is the Bart situation.If he werento go we do need a good replacement.
