Town Agree Fee for Posh Winger Edwards
Friday, 13th Jul 2018 18:07

Town have agreed a fee with Peterborough United for winger Gwion Edwards.

The 25-year-old has been on the Blues’ radar since May when they were linked with the former Wales U21 international along with Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.

Last month Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony tweeted that Blues owner Marcus Evans had contacted the League One club’s director of football Barry Fry with Edwards widely believed to be the reason for that call.

Earlier this afternoon MacAnthony revealed that the former Swansea and Crawley man had set his heart on a move to a Championship club, who we can confirm are Town.

The precise fee is currently unconfirmed but is understood to be a significant sum with Edwards's former club Crawley set to receive a six-figure sell-on from the deal agreed when he joined Posh in 2016.

Talks regarding personal terms are set to take place over the next few days with Edwards looking set to become new manager Paul Hurst’s third Blues signing.

Let's wait and see. Could be a great bit of business. I am concerned about the defender in the picture as he has some sort of radioactive green glow around his head.

I do hope some people calm down a bit, and take time to understand why Hurst was brought in.

The club was stagnating under McCarthy. Without Forest-like funding or parachute payments we won't compete financially, so we needed a manager who can: a) get the best out of existing players, b) add to them without spending millions and c) introduce a style of play that does not continue to bite the pants off fans d) does not take pride in antagonising loyal supporters, and e) bring through our youth players from academy to first team.

All of those were lacking.

So, for god's sake stop moaning and let the guy get in with the job. It's been a painful slide for 6 years - it's not going to be resolved in 6 weeks!

Swn - we were near to being relegation fodder when McC joined us. Five seasons later the atmosphere was toxic prior to his departure, and the football on offer was the worst I've witnessed in 40+ years. So damn right - 6yrs of slide under boring, stubborn, self obsessed Mick.

Let's get BEHIND the new manager, and the team instead of sniping.

Not sniping Bressingham just questioning saved us from relegation, got us in the play offs finished seventh finished midtable despite crippling injuries most of the season made millions in transfer deals.
All the news coming out of Portman Rd is uninspiring at the moment apart from the latest that Bart looks like he is going to sign a new deal.

By the way Bressingham not that it's any business of mine as you asked MM will soon have a job when a big team are in the relegation zone and doomed there are plenty of teams that will be in that category who will willingly sign him up.
