Drinan on Trial at Sutton United
Sunday, 29th Jul 2018 10:23

Blues striker Aaron Drinan played for Sutton United in their 1-0 friendly victory over Norwich City’s U23s yesterday afternoon.

The 20-year-old frontman came on as a half-time sub and is on trial with the Vanarama National League side with a view to joining them on loan.

Drinan moved to the Blues from Waterford in his native Ireland in January and is yet to make a first team appearance despite having been on the bench on five occasions.

I thought somebody said that he was the new Murphy and was ‘putting first team players on their arses in training'?

dirtydingusmagee- He like others may well benefit from a loan spell. Wolfenden, Emmanuel and Downes all have. It says LOAN not permanent move. When it comes to transfers and MM do you forget Mings, cost £10k sold for £8m, Webster, less than £1m sold for £4.5m, Kieffer Moore signed for £10k, sold for £750k and Waggy, signed for £200k and potentially off for £8m. Whatever MMs qualities or faults he has done well in the transfer Market for this club. Some of you are blinded to facts by irrational hatred of MM

Well said Mick was quality in the transfer market.

Forgot Murphy, £3.5m for a 34year old player signed on a free, Bart, signed for about £100k who has been POTU the last 3 seasons, Skuse on a free who has wracked up nearly 200 appearances and PH obviously values. I may have forgotten others but I don't see how this story is a negative for Drinan or a chance to have a pop at MM.

Monkey Blue and Currie10, thanks for confirming who said the above.
You two need to let go, breathe deeply and stop bringing everything around to MM.
He's gone.

Settle down ladies......the force has been awakened by the new Jedi. I personally think MM did exceptionally with Ipswich given the situation he took over in and his transfers on the whole were excellent. But it's all done now and the new era looks promising. I'm sure every player benefits from a loan period.

PositivelyPortman- how the hell did I make it about MM- read the thread. I'm the one saying I don't see why this has anything to do with MM.

As with Emmanuel last season, a loan move could be good for all parties. It would seem Hurst doesn't think he's good enough yet, so game time at a competitive level Would be better than under 23s football.

Monkey_Blue Maybe we should offer Mick a job as head of recruitment!

“When it comes to transfers and MM do you forget” ...............
Read your own comments mate.

Isn't going to get near first team anytime soon so a loan is a good move for him. Better to play competitively weds/sat in the lower leagues than u23's fixtures

Lets see if he can make an impact in the lower leagues

PositivelyPortman- are you thick? The first comment dragged MM into it not me... “nice one Mick!”

While MM did get some right , he also brought in a load of dross.!!..what was it over 90 players ?? Iorfa , Gleeson , Douglas , Malchyarck (spelling) Patrick Kisnorbo ,Sylvan Ebanks-Blake , Josh Yorwerth , Leon Best , Balint Bajner and who can forget the awesome Giles Coke and the list goes on and on..so he was not brilliant by any stretch,,he got a few right and a few wrong simple as.

Monkeyblue, you can add Knudsen to that - if I remember rightly Mick found him mon wyscout and we got him for less than £100k. Was the standout outfield player in Denmark's last world cup game, and must now be worth £4M. I am surprised there hasn't been an offer tabled. I posted many months ago that Mick was like a superscout, he was (is) brilliant at spotting talent, but his coaching methods are two decades out of date.

never said he wasn't a decent player ! I just think it was crap that he never got further than the bench, now being farmed out . But hey ho the trigger fingers are limbering up ,ready for the kick off, calm calm !

Short marine-you forgot the amazing Frank Nouble! Last seen being released by Nowport County... he's the worst example for me: big lad, runs a lot, that'll do.

Can't argue with some of MM's wins in transfers but he did sign some dross didn't he? Guess that goes to show the budget he had to work with

DurhamTownFan- please tell me a manager that has had a hit with every signing? Although for us MM was shopping at a level some punts were needed given the lack of cash to buy established quality. Cloughie singed some absolute disasters and paid massive amounts for them. Ferguson bought some dross etc etc. If MM was spending Keane type money he'd have had even fewer misses but in the bargain bucket he found more than his fair share of great value

Dirtydingusmagee- He wasn't banging them in at U23s and Klug didn't use him either. He needs a loan

You also fail to mention the club captain! I may be wrong but did Mick sign Chambers?

osborne added 20:13 - Jul 29
Paul Jewell signed Chambers a few months before Mick arrived

I note that with six days to go to the start of the season, Mick the Messiah is still on the dole

Monkey Blue - you're still rattling on about MM.
HE'S GONE. LET IT REST.
I trust you'll be following his career with his new club?

Can we all move on please forget the past and concentrate on future.

If the lad goes on loan good luck to him let's hope he comes back a better player.
