Town Move on to Bogle as Accrington Price Blues Out of Jackson Chase
Friday, 3rd Aug 2018 10:28

Accrington Stanley have priced Town out of the chase for Kayden Jackson having put a £2.5 million valuation on the striker’s head, TWTD understands. The Blues have now turned their attention to Cardiff’s Omar Bogle, who we can confirm as per reports earlier this morning is in Town’s sights to come in on loan.

As previously revealed, the Blues offered Stanley £1.5 million for Jackson, who is also understood to be interesting a number of other Championship clubs, including QPR.

HITC Sport are reporting that Town subsequently upped that bid to £1.75 million but it was still refused and a frustrated Jackson has now handed in a transfer request.

However, this claim has subsequently been dismissed by Accrington chairman Andy Holt.

The Blues are unwilling to pay anything approaching the League One club’s asking price for 24-year-old Jackson and have now moved on to Bogle with reports regarding a loan approach emerging this morning.

Town are keen to add another striker to their squad with Martyn Waghorn appearing all but certain to move on before the transfer deadline next Thursday with Derby or Middlesbrough his most likely destination, while a number of other Championship clubs including Sheffield United are also interested.

Blues sources have played down last night’s link with former loanee Jordan Graham, while talks are continuing between Town and Shrewsbury regarding the signings of Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan, although with the moves appearing unlikely to go ahead before the weekend.

Fulham midfielder Tayo Edun is expected at Portman Road today to complete the formalities relating to his season-long loan move.

Town have until 12 noon to register players in time for them to feature against Blackburn tomorrow. The Edun switch is expected to comfortably meet that deadline.

Blimey, Accrington are certainly not giving up without a fight, fair play to Ipswich though, trying to be sensible and not being held to ransom.

2.5 mil?

That must make Waggy worth 12 and Jonas at least 3?

Football has gone mad.

Not an easy club to do business for are Accrington and I don't think we should have over £2M for Jackson. I liked the sound of Bogle under Mick as it was his kind of style, but to me, Bogle doesn't do enough for Hurst. Tom Bradsaw could be a brilliant signing for good value, and is a much more exciting player than Bogle!!

I'd happily take Bogle. Something different to what we have at the moment

iaintaylor you do know Bogle has played under Hurst right? Banging in shy of 40 goals in 2 seasons

I like the fact that we are out there trying to strengthen the squad while not being reckless, £2.5m too much for a player not tested in the championship

Just offer £1M for Bogle instead of a loan?

I know they wanted to improve their changing rooms but won't solid gold taps look out of place in Accrington?

2.5 million for a striker unproven at league 1 level? Insane. 1.75 million would be a very good price. Shocked they didn't accept that.

We should tell Bolton Garner is worth 10 million if that's the case.

Bogle is a good bet. Perhaps change of direction might make Accrington rethink?

I'd absolutely love him at Town but £2.5m for a player with a year left is ridiculous. They got him for free, he's had one great season in League One. I'd pay £1.5m absolutely as I rate him, but Marriott top scored a division higher and went for about £3m. No way you can seriously ask for just less for a player leaving for free next year!

2.5 million is crazy money for a striker who has an average of one goal in five in nonleage-football and 16 goals in 44 games in League Two.
Move on.

Go for Stockley of Exeter, scored a hat full last season

Not for me...if Cardiff valued him so much when he joined them why did they put him out on loan to Peterboro?

TractorCam, yes, but Hurst has admitted he has changes his style over the years. Back then, I guess Bogle was used as a target man, something, I personally don't want to see after the last few yeaa under Mick!

So, we get the scraps, once again. No Tilt. No Jackson. Loans, loans, loans (ok if they are done with a view to make permanent).

Can't be held to ransom so have done the right thing by moving on! I'd offer 1m for Bogle, PH will definitely get him playing! COYB

My post should have read League Two goals and not League One by the way.

What planet are Accrington on ! £1.5m was pretty generous . Good to see the club are not paying ridiculous prices . Not sure about another player on loan though - it takes money from our transfer pot without any long term benefit after the loan

On loan for a year, Jackson has a year left on his contract, hmm.
Its also refreshing to see that players that we are in for are handing transfer requests in to their clubs to try and force through a move! Don't remember that happening over the last 10 years or so.

@Blueyswede I still expect us to get at least one of those two, maybe both if Waggy goes
