Jackson Finally Set to Join Town Wednesday, 8th Aug 2018 08:09
Town finally appear to have been successful in their move to sign Kayden Jackson from Accrington Stanley with the deal reportedly set to be announced this morning.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, a fee of an initial £1.5 million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause has been agreed with the League One club. Barnsley will receive 30 per cent of the profit Stanley will make on the player they signed from the Tykes for a nominal fee last summer.
Accrington had targeted a £2.5 million fee for the striker, who previously had a spell on loan at Grimsby under Paul Hurst, but that figure always looked wholly unrealistic. TWTD reported that Town had offered £1.5 million more than a week ago.
Town have beaten QPR and Peterborough to land the 24-year-old, who scored 16 goals as Accrington won the League Two title last season, while Saturday’s opponents Rotherham and Preston North End are among the other clubs to have shown interest in the Bradford-born frontman this summer.
The Blues are set to confirm the signings of Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan from Shrewsbury this morning once Martyn Waghorn’s exit to Derby has been announced by the Rams.

Well I think this is all part of the plan Hurst has in recruiting a squad who complement each other ie first time in a long while we have a manager looking at a style of play with certain type of players . Exciting times and this is just part of a bigger plan . do not quite understand the doom merchants - glass half full . Lets see how it all shakes down . Welcome to Town !! Kayden
@martin587 when you say he needs to start somewhere you could argue he started his career off at wrexham in the national league with stats of 4 goals in 36 games? Or we could say he started after his move to Barnsley in the championship where he didnt play a single game, or we could say he started his career at Grimsby where he went on loan with stats of 1 goal in 20 games?? or you could say he started his career off at accrington with his most prolific season with stats of 16 goals in 44 games.
There will always be 'ifs', 'buts' and 'maybes' but whatever happens, I am thrilled to have such a pursposeful, dynamic and innovative manager in place. Please reflect for one moment, my friends, on where we've been for the past decade. Now look at this transfer window. I for one am very, very excited about the way ahead. Are we taking gambles? Yes, of course. Will all of them pay off? That is very unlikely. Will it be an white-knuckle-ride of hope and excitment? Yes, yes, YES!! I am 100% behind Hurst and would implore us all to do likewise. The worst that can happen is disappointment BUT we'll have gone down giving it our very best shot. Onwards and upwards - COYB!!!
Profit on a deal like Waghorn do not arise too often..a great bit of business by MM and there were doubters about that signing at the time...so the signings are a gamble but all signings at whatever level are a gamble if sorts. We have to trust PH judgement and clubs know that we have money to spend so they will jack the price up..in addition there are sell on clauses involved and the selling club want to cover that to ensure they get a decent profit on the deal understandably.... the signings made are of hungry footballers keen to do well...of course it might take time but lets get behind them and the philosophy of trying to win games not just go out not to lose... give it 10-15 games before we make hasty judgements...
Glad we are being able to spend on bringing in players. Well done PH. Let's hope this move up will be a good one for him - the more decent forwards we have the better.
Would ITFC have expected to beat Accrington Stanley and Shrewsbury last year? because their players and others from Divisions 1 and 2 are going to makeup 50% of our team this year - even if we have got the best. I am optimistic but just wonder where we will be come Christmas - to me its an even bet to me whether we will be top 10 or bottom 6.

Only Bartosz, Knudsen, Chambers and Skuze to be sold now and Mr Hurst can have a team made up of league 1 & 2 players who should do well after we are relegated
