Nsiala and Nolan Handed Debuts at Rotherham
Saturday, 11th Aug 2018 14:15

Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan make their Blues debuts from the start at Rotherham this afternoon with this week’s other new signing Kayden Jackson on the bench.

As expected, Nsiala, who joined from Shrewsbury in a joint-£2 million deal with Nolan on Wednesday, starts at centre-half with skipper Luke Chambers, while Janoi Donacien and Jonas Knudsen are the full-backs.

In midfield, Cole Skuse and Trevoh Chalobah fill the deeper roles with former Millers loanee Grant Ward back from suspension and on the left of the trio ahead of them instead of Freddie Sears, who drops to the bench.

Gwion Edwards is on the right and Nolan in the centre, while Ellis Harrison continues as the lone striker.

Jackson, signed from Accrington on Thursday, is likely to make his debut at some stage, while Jordan Roberts will also be looking to make his first Blues appearance as a sub. Rotherham include ex-Town keeper Lewis Price on their bench.

Town: Bialkowski, Donacien, Chambers (c), Nsiala, Knudsen, Skuse, Chalobah, Edwards, Nolan, Ward, Harrison. Subs: Gerken, Jackson, Spence, Roberts, Sears, Edun, Kenlock.

Rotherham: Rodak, Vyner, Mattock, Vaulks, Ajayi, Wood (c), Palmer, Taylor, Vassell, Newell, Smith. Subs: Price, Forde, Ball, Williams, Wiles, Raggett, Jones. Referee: David Webb (Lancashire).

What's the thinking with Downes, Nydam and Dozzell? Really hope we don't loan Doz as he will defintely shine. Think another season for Downes on loan will do him the world of good and Nydam could really benefit too. But, come on boys - get those three points!

Would send Downes, Emmanuel and Nydam out on loan. Keep Dozzell at Portman Road and with the squad. Needs to get back to full fitness and would then be very useful to have on the bench

Really strange leaving out the names mentioned, obviously might be starting Tuesday but still strange to leave ourselves short on bench, especially when Skuse is starting he was our stand out bad player last week.

Little chuckle to myself...with all the chops and changes we still have Skuse starting. Getting the feeling too some of our 'own' i.e. Nydam, Downes and Dozzell might not be seeing to much of the PR turf this season, sad if this happens.

I thought we had a five point plan which included getting our academy players in the team. I am not as optimistic as most .I am not sure all these players from the lower leagues are any better then what we have. I noted none of the top championship teams were after them. I am prepared to eat humble pie if I am wrong but I am not as optimistic as some.

Go get some revenge with your new team for that play off defeat

Thoroughly depressing.

We have 3 great young players, our own, who played well against West Ham. None now selected. How will they feel? How will our other youngsters feel?

I've heard PH doesn't really fancy Emmanuel or Nydam. Wouldn't be surprised to see Josh leave perm and Nydam on loan. Andre isn't really match fit I think. He's been out a long time, probably needs to do some work in the gym!

I thought Morris did well coming off the bench last week so disappointing he's not involved today

Well I hope Nsiala has a better game against Rotherham than he did last time. I wasn't impressed with him at all when I watched the play off final. I too am a little concerned for this season with too little experience in the team in a very, very tough league. Time will tell, but it will provide more entertainment than the last 2 seasons that for sure.

If Dozzell is I can't see why he's not STARTING never mind on the bench, last week was screaming out for a player like him to pick a pass like the one against w ham. We don't need Chalobah and skuse both in team(chalobah all day long for me) we need more creativity.
Rotherham are going to be shat again this season and I'm expecting nothing more than comfortable 2 or 3 goal margin win.

Told you all this yesterday. Dozzell and Nydam trained with the U23's. The travelling squad trained alone.

I swear a minority of our fans are never happy with anything the club does...
"why are we signing too many journeymen" (past), "we have no experience in our team" (present)

Sorry Mingochutney marked you down in error I agree with you.

Slightly (ok extremely) disappointed that we only have Kenlock from our own bunch of “promising youngsters” in the 18.

Really thought Emmanuel,Nydam,Downes,Morris & Dozzell would be integral to getting fans back on board this season?

All a bit baffling.

@lukey130490 I don't necessarily think the minority's unhappy but concerned, it's a big risk bringing so many lower league players in as many have said on here.
One thing for sure though, it's going to be a lot more exciting/ enjoyable to watch and only time will tell if hurst has done right.
Let's just hope he has

Yes TimmyH perhaps MM and PH know a bit more than the frustrated Key board warriors of the TWTD news comments.

Yawn off...Swn, Hurst has learnt that much about him after just 1 game? I doubt it, and even in that he didn't do that well.

It's fine to want other players in the 18, but to add someone you also have to take one out. So if Downes or Dozzell are in who is out? If Emmanuel is in, Kenlock would be out. Some would no doubt complain. Tought choices to be made. This is a good thing.
