Town Linked With New Oshilaja Move
Tuesday, 21st Aug 2018 12:08

Town are reported to have revived their interest in AFC Wimbledon central defender Deji Oshilaja, with Bolton Wanderers also said to be eyeing the 25-year-old.

On the final afternoon of the transfer window TWTD revealed that the Blues were looking to get one more signing over the line with Oshilaja that target.

Manager Paul Hurst subsequently confirmed that the club was unable to agree a fee with the Dons for the Londoner - “We felt the valuation was too high” - and said he thought it was unlikely a loan deal could be done, although without ruling it out entirely.

“I’m not sure whether a loan deal would be happening there. But let’s see what these next weeks bring,” he said.

Now, according to HITC Sport, the Blues and Trotters are both trying to sign Oshilaja on loan - presumably with a view to the deal becoming a permanent switch in January - before the end of the month.

Oshilaja, Wimbledon’s captain, was with Cardiff’s youth set-up during which time he spent spells on loan at Newport, Sheffield Wednesday and Gillingham. He joined the Dons, who are yet to concede goal in League One this season, last summer.

Town are looking to recruit another central defender before the August 31st loan deadline. Former loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers is looking less likely to be that player with the Tottenham youngster reportedly close to a move to Swansea, while Sheffield Wednesday are also now said to be interested.

TimmyH, this is a major rebuilding job and we are not going to be pushing the top six this season. Paul Hurst and the new guys, whichever league they have come from need to adapt to new surroundings and a new way of playing. It will take time, probably a few months at least and if the performances are of the footballing kind we have seen so far then I'm sure things will come good.Blackburn are going strong, villa are going strong, Exeter are unbeaten only a last minute goal at Rotherham denied us a point. Keep the faith and I'll see you all at Pride Park tonight.

Tractorboytommy makes up his own version of everyone else's posts..lol
Of course no league 1 side has ever come up and done well in the Championship have they. No league 1 or league 2 player could ever make the step up. Championship players must be born that way.

@BobbyBell (end) yet again that half a braincell of yours cant grasp the point. I must of said the same point about 100 times on here, I know I am boring most of you lot and im even boring myself now. But unfortunatley I have to keep repeating myself for people like BobbyBell (end).

I have mentioned before teams come up from league 1 and do very well in the championship Wolves, Leeds, Millwall, Sheffield United and do I mention the team from up the road. All these teams had at least one season playing together and had the momentum from gaining promotion. The difference with us is that we have a whole new team who has never played together so that will take time, and these young lads heads might drop if we dont pick up a win soon and out of all the new signings we will be lucky if 3-4 can make the grade up to the championship.

TboyT; Appreciate that not everyone understands your concerns but can you not appreciate that the team is young, must have time to blend and develop. Aston Villa performance was much better than Blackburn and hopefully tonight will see a further improvement. Exeter was in my opinion a clear case of 'we'll not need to try hard here we can easily beat them'. that attitude always comes back to bite you. Also is it always necessary to be so rude and basically insult people

So your do agree that it'll take time as per your post above?

In your earlier posts you were moaning about the state of the team after just 3 league games?

@Stewart27 I have said for the last few weeks it will take most of the season for the team to gel. Unfortunatley and I hope I am wrong I dont think there will be enough time and with the gruelling demand of the championship maybe too much for young league 1 and 2 players. Also losing waggy and garner will be to much of a big loss as unfortunatley with the strikers we have they will not be able to recreate the goals that we will be missing from the sales.

And I wasnt moaning, just been realistic that we havent played anyone decent yet and havent won. Going down to 10 men against villa did us a favour as we could sit back and protect the point playing the old mick way you might even say, if we had 11 men on the pitch and had to attack the villa think that would of worked in their advantage and would pick us off. Derby have been woeful this season so far but can see them beating us by a few goals tonight, and if thats the case it will be a long hard season ahead.

Leave Tractorboytommy to his own doom and gloom!
All other true supporters... let's enjoy this season. It will be up and down sometimes and frustration and joy. But it will be a season of transition.
But at last we true supporters recognise that, and it a positive move forwards after last 2 seasons of stagnation.
Up The Town!

Get a grip man
We have changed almost the entire team things don't happen overnight.

Blackburn - promoted from league one granted but a good team and manager now. Team bedded in from last season.

Rotherham - another promoted team but this one I do expect to struggle. We had over 60% of the ball and countless attempts on goal but got caught by a sucker punch. A bit of luck!!

Exeter - dreadful performance

Villa - very good championship side if not in the top 4 come May Bruce may lose job. We held our own and shaded it at times playing most of game with 10 men.

Oh and yes i would accept a season in league one rather than put up with negative boring football just to stay in the league.

Exactly right bedsitfc!
Team and management team needed to be demolished and built up again from the foundations.
I see bright blue sky on the horizon.
Paul Hurst I believe has been a Godsend, and what the club needed.

Very good player and would be a good loan signing with view to permanent deal.

I do however think we need a striker as a higher priority.

TractorBoyTommy - you add good banter value to this site and that's what it should be all about. To many serious posters on here. Don't mean I agree with a lot of what you say though, but entertaining nonetheless

@happybeingblue think you need to take off your blue tinted glasses off as it is affecting your reading! Or that half a brain cel of yours can't work it out. Read what I said again.... not once did I Blackburn, Millwall etc should be getting battered every week. If you read what I said I actually praised them. So I'm afraid you have made yourself and your comment ‘Moronic'

@cat thanks for the support and it definitely is all about the banter. Just a shame half the town fans on here can't take it

@bedsitfc and all the other people commented saying I was negative and you would happily take a season in league 1, i know it is highly unlikely that any of you would ever read this, but an apology or just acknowledgement i was right would be appreciated
