Town Getting Closer on Tilt Tuesday, 28th Aug 2018 17:20
TWTD understands Town are finally getting closer to completing the signing of Blackpool central defender Curtis Tilt on loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.
The Blues have been chasing the 27-year-old all summer but without having been able to agree a fee with the Seasiders with bids of up to £800,000 turned down, the League One club having targeted a £1 million fee.
Tilt, who has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road but with the Tangerines having an option for a further season, was left out of the Blackpool team which drew 1-1 at home to Accrington on Saturday, although interim-boss Terry McPhillips subsequently said the former Wrexham man was left out as a fitness precaution.
Quizzed on Tilt following Town’s game at Sheffield Wednesday, Blues boss Paul Hurst confirmed he is a player he remains interested in: “Yes, I’m not going to change my mind and think he’s suddenly a bad player or anything but he’s one of the players [I’m interested in], no secret.
“I don’t particularly like speaking about other players but it’s out there but it’s been discussed numerous times already.”
Tilt played in non-league for Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, AFC Telford Town, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers (loan) before joining Blackpool last summer.
He made 45 starts for the League One side in 2017/18, his first EFL campaign, scoring once and picking up three Seasiders’ player of the season gongs. This season he had made three starts prior to being left out of Saturday's side.
Rangers, Reading, QPR and Portsmouth have all also been linked with Tilt this summer.

I think he'll sign three loan players and hope the Donacien situation comes good. We can only have five in the match day squad doesn't stop one sitting out from time to time. Maybe a striker still to follow then?
Is he really that good..... better than Chambers, poor old Woolfenden would have liked to see him given a chance.
For those that say Chambers is done..... I can't see it as why would Hurst name him as Capt if he was looking to replace him..... surely he would have given it to one of the signings he has made.
Everyone said MM packed his favs yet we have now got a manager who brings in players who have played for him at all the clubs he has been with. O dear
Blimey,we've spent most of the summer chasing a 27 year old with 1 season's experience at football league level...bonkers tbh.
Knock my concerns if you want but i'm beginning to wonder whether Hurst is placing far too much faith in far too many inexperienced championship players...does he actually have any clout when it comes to bringing in quality at this level?..even if we brought in a quality championship striker now I think the rest of the team has become a massive massive gamble.
Yes kpblues, it's always puzzled me why one footed youngsters (in football terms!) aren't taught to be able to be at least comfortable using the other one. Though i do remember a certain Dutchman being very one footed, and he certainly left his mark here. As Arnie once said, his "right foot was just for standing purposes only", but he couldn't half use his left! There was nothing superhuman about AM either. He could just pass a football accurately over a number of distances. Something that seems to be sadly missing from many overpaid footballers these days!
