Town Among Clubs Linked With Derby Striker Jerome
Tuesday, 28th Aug 2018 20:41

Town are reportedly among a number of Championship clubs eyeing a move for Derby County’s former Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome.

According to the Daily Mirror, Town, Blackburn Rovers, Hull City, QPR and Reading are all keen on the 32-year-old with the Rams open to offers for the frontman, who is said to be a high earner at Pride Park.

Jerome, who joined Derby from Norwich for a reported £1.5 million in January, is yet to feature for the Rams under new manager Frank Lampard having scored six goals in 10 starts and 10 sub appearances last season following his switch.

Turkish reports previously linked Goztepe with a move for Jerome, who counts Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Birmingham, Stoke and Crystal Palace (loan) among his previous clubs. He has another year left on his contract.

Another striker is very much on manager Paul Hurst’s wish-list before Friday’s 5pm loan deadline but Jerome might prove a controversial signing given his Canaries past, while wages could be an issue if he is, as reported, one of Derby’s higher earners.

If we can afford him i'd take a punt on him, knows this league inside out & score goals but i'd be very suprised if he signed for us!

I don't care about his former Norwich connection (especially if he came and scored against them on Sunday). My sole concerns would be whether he is still good enough (probably) and the issue of high wages (probably).

Injury record like Graham....... Nope

Nah don't think he's Hurst's cup of tea. Nothing to see here.

He is scum. End of.

Don't care how badly we need a striker, we don't sign there cast offs and waste shed loads of money on his over inflated wages.

Why should we help Derby out to comply with FFP.??.

Are you lot seriously contemplating this move. You should be ashamed.

Play Morris.

Yes please. Decent player at this level. For those saying no coz of the Norwich connection, wake up! Experienced championship level striker that will help Harrison and Jackson at this level. 4 goals in 5 games so far is worrying.

If this is actually a possible transfer I'd be very happy with it. Could make his debut with a winner against the buddies too!!!

You lot calling for Morris are deluded... although looks lively, he has not got the experience, strength or power to play as a lone striker in the system PH is employing.. alongside someone holding up the ball for him maybe yes (like he Murphy Sears duo)but we need an experienced powerful striker for this system.. and as much as I'm not keen, Jerome totally fits the bill!

Feels like a bad omen to me, remember when Norwich were struggling and signed Alan lee? Norwich were relegated to league one. Was gutted when big Al signed for the scum. With the luck we've had in recent years and the start we've had, i have to admit I'm not looking forward to Sunday one bit. Norwich aren't exactly pulling up trees, but not feeling confident. Defo still need a striker though, but will pass on Jerome.
