Hurst: Tilt Signing Now Very Unlikely
Wednesday, 29th Aug 2018 16:04

Boss Paul Hurst says it’s now “very unlikely” that the Blues will sign Blackpool centre-half Curtis Tilt.

Town had finally appeared to have made some progress on their long-standing move for the 27-year-old yesterday, however, the deal appears to have hit what looks to be a further - and probably terminal - stumbling block believed to be the sum the Seasiders are demanding the Blues pay them up front.

“I would have liked [to have signed him], but I have to say that that’s looking very unlikely,” Hurst said regarding the Tilt situation.

A centre-half remains one of Hurst’s two targets ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline and he could now turn his attention back to AFC Wimbledon skipper Deji Oshilaja, who was close to signing on the final day of the regular transfer window when we understand he was at Portman Road for talks. However, the clubs were then unable to agree a fee.

Hurst is also after a striker with former skipper Jon Walters being targeted, as revealed by TWTD earlier this afternoon.

Asked whether he expected things to go right to the wire on Friday afternoon, Hurst added: “I’d rather not, at least we won’t have to be up to 11 o’clock, not that it’s that late, although of late it does seem I’m getting a little bit tired before that time.

“In an ideal world we’d be before then, but it would be wrong of me to say it will be definitely, we’ll have to wait and see. We’re certainly hopeful of getting a couple in before then.”

Is he confident of getting the players he wants in? “Hopeful, I’ve made no secret of it and thankfully when we speak next week we can be talking about something different rather than ins and outs.”

Hurst says he’s not anticipating any further loans out - Tristan Nydam moved to St Johnstone yesterday - with central defender Luke Woolfenden among those who he has received enquiries regarding.

“Possibly not,” he said. “Again, depending on what we do [in terms of incoming signings]. The issue is with getting close to that deadline. What I’m certainly not prepared to do is let people just go out when we’ve got to look after ourselves first and foremost.

“If that means having a couple of extra bodies in the end I’d rather it be that way than feel like we’re a little bit short. Possible outs but maybe depending on what business we do first.”

Blame their cretinous owner for the deal hitting the buffers.

Why are people always criticising town for these stories? for the first time in a long while we have a manager that is honest enough to tell us what is going on with our transfer business, I would rather know than sit in the darkness waiting for deadline day to pass

Blackpool just dont want to let him go. Cant blame them. Perhaps we should have done the same regarding Waggers.

Maybe somebody else has come in for him now & are prepared to pay the full asking price or haven't had such a fractious relationship with the Blackpool owner in recent weeks/months, so he's off. The fact that he has played the last 2 games makes it look like they were open to letting him go, despite what the manager said about a niggly injury.

What a complete shambles this has been. I'd love to know why this hasn't been resolved long before now. If Blackpool had straight up refused to sell him then I could understand, but they must be giving us signals that they're willing to sell for us to keep messing around trying to sign him. Completely out of order by Blackpool for the player to be denied a big move like this.

How any club would want to deal with Oyston, and how any pro player would want to be anywhere near Blackpool, beats all logic and understanding. There's trying to get the best deal for your club, and there's being so difficult and unpredictable, that you achieve exactly the opposite. Feel sorry for Tilt and the Tangeries' Supporters.

But, knowing how this farcical saga has played out, chances are we'll get him with seconds to go.

The way I look at it is,

1. Re-negotiate in January for a knock down price

2. Sign Tilt on a pre contract in January, can't play for us until next season though but will come on a free

3. Loan him now for a permanent signing in January which will cost cost us I'm guessing the 1 mil

Obviously with time running out now I'd personally loan a CB ( preferbaly with Championship experience) for a 6 month period & then re-visit the Tilt signing in January

One google search of "Oyston" and it'll become clear why this is of no surprise. Thank god we don't have the likes of those around our club. Fit and proper people I think not.

Anyone seen the film groundhog day? Haha! Would have liked to sign Tilt but blackpool are clearly a nightmare to deal with. Now I really hope Nsialas red card appeal is sorted!

Nothing to worry about here. I'm sure there is an average League 2 defender we can sign instead.

Too many always blaming the club for a deal which is obviously not going to happen because of the cretinous owners of Blackpool.

Bet Tilt is really happy at the moment!!

Blackpool moving the posts again is my understanding, wanting a bigger up front fee all of a sudden.....

Evans fault...had a chance to sign him for 150k more and didn't do it.

Blueblood big move?your deluded I'm affraid we are sat anchored to the bottom of the division and you expect somebody to jump at the chance.

Why is everyone blaming Blackpool. They said the price was £1m and have stuck with it. Evans would not part with another £150k out if his £5m profit so we can't sign him. The fact that we have a centre back shortage does not seem to bother him. Purely down to Evans.

Why would players NOT want to come to this club.? I think some people need to get there brain in gear and look at the long term picture and not judge things after a few games.( just my thoughts but then everybody has there own.)

Ampadu from Chelsea would be decent. Not sure Chelsea would let him go

He'll still come...
Its all mind games, they are holding out, hoping someone else will show interest, starting a bidding war (should we be concerned this aint happening)
Hurst is making out we have moved on to worry them...

End of the day, they have a seemingly disgruntled player who wants out, and its clearly effecting him/them as he's not playing...

Surely we should be turning our attentions to a premiership team player that can come on loan. We desperately need someone who has played championship football at least.

Strange tackle in the pic by the looks of things, the guy behind seems to have got the players arm. Perhaps just the angle.
