Nsiala's Red Card Appeal Rejected
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 14:37

Toto Nsiala’s appeal against his red card at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday has been rejected by the FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission and the centre-half now faces a three-match ban.

Nsiala was dismissed in the 75th minute at Hillsborough for a challenge on Fernando Forestieri in which he appeared to cleanly win the ball prior to the Owls striker colliding with him.

The former Shrewsbury man will miss Sunday's East Anglian derby against Norwich and the two games following the international break at Hull City and at home to Brentford.

I meant to add that the commission nearly always stick up for the referee

I suspect no one on that commission has ever played football?

Absloute disgrace that a clear error is not corrected. Why are refs not held account for their performances?

Yes it's difficult, thata what they get paid for. A sad incitement of football and thoserunning the game.

The FA always come out on the side of the ref we should know this from other reds we have tried and failed to overturn very few of these get rescinded unless there are about 10 different camera angles to view and that only happens in the prem so we have no chance

Dubious Decisions Panel reigns supreme!!

Fully expected really. The fact he got to the ball first isn't in dispute, but players can no longer continue to "go through" the other player and "leave something on him". Years ago that was fully expected and part of the game, but now you can't do it.

The problem is th fa don't want to make these decisions.
Has anyone actually got a % figure on successful challenges.
The ref got it wrong and we have been punished- once in the game and subsequent matches.

Then the ref turns up at forest last night and has another shxt day at work.

Forestierri should have been booked for a late tackle the ball had gone.

A bad mistake by a referee in a match is understandable when he has to make a snap decision, but not correcting the error on review is criminal. It was unfortunate that we were denied 3 points, but the loss of a player for 3 matches should have been avoided.
Fans give refs a tough time, but it's decisions not being overruled that make the situation worse.

And we all wonder why our game is in such a mess....exhibit A! What a joke. FA stands for what they all know about football!

Does anyone remember when Grant Holt was sent off at Reading?
Their next match was Ipswich at home, funnily enough his three match ban was overturned first thing on Monday morning. Then his early tackle (sorry, assault) on Jack Colback was punished by only a yellow card and the rest is history (he scored a hat-trick).
Given that our next match is against you know who, I have to say this decision doesn't surprise me in the slightest although anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that this decision is just wrong. I would have been more optimistic if Norwich wasn't one of our next three matches. I've had a s**t day at work and now this. This day just gets better and better FFS

Nor me

FF is a disgrace and hope he gets his comeuppance and wont be welcome at PR nor indeed will the ref (and to think he was ref last night and denied Newcastle penalty, dreadful)

That's it then - all clean tackles that win the ball will be punished by a red card. The FA are a complete joke

Entirely to be expected, as Hurst alluded to before the appeal was lodged. He was not the least hopeful of the red card being overturned at appeal. This really does highlight the pathetic 'protect at all costs' attitude of the FA towards their match officials. Disappointing for the player most of all but let's hope that the team can rally round and use it as further motivation towards the elusive first victory on Sunday.

I'm not surprised - yes it was studs up but when he won the ball the opposition player was not near him - the collision came afterwards. This is the way football is going - a player may score from an overhead kick then have it disallowed because his foot was too close to an opposition player's head. Football is a very different game from what it was ten, even five years ago - players are being penalised now for simply winning the ball by being physically stronger or because the other player was off balance.

Disgusted. Interception wasn't a foul and even the opposition fans didn't think it warranted a card.

Ridiculous how cards are issued like confetti in the modern game, justs ruins it for the fans.

If anything the red card should have gone to the Wednesday player for an over the top tackle!
Seems to me that the FA have altered the basic rules of football and now penalise any follow through. Any going to ground or one foot slide tackle is now officially dead.

Now we have two bits of camaraderie with our Northern twinned town, Newcastle. Sir Bobby and hating Jeremy Simpson.
