Nsiala's Red Card Appeal Rejected
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 14:37

Toto Nsiala’s appeal against his red card at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday has been rejected by the FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission and the centre-half now faces a three-match ban.

Nsiala was dismissed in the 75th minute at Hillsborough for a challenge on Fernando Forestieri in which he appeared to cleanly win the ball prior to the Owls striker colliding with him.

The former Shrewsbury man will miss Sunday's East Anglian derby against Norwich and the two games following the international break at Hull City and at home to Brentford.

Forestieri's acrobatics are partly to blame too. Lets give him a nice warm reception in February.

If you get a red card for going for a loose ball with no one near it then how can the game be played? Based on this there will be 10 red cards in ever game played.

Appeals should go to an independent arbitrator, not the refs employer. Of course the appeal would be denied.

I'm not surprised. If this had been a Manchester player, then it would have been overturned. Sadly, these panels tend to back the referees.

What's now very important is we sign a CB. Urgently. I still find it bizarre that we started the season with just two Senior CBs.

The FA are a disgrace. If they want fans to give up watching football altogether, they are going in the right direction. When success goes to the players who simulate and cheat, and those who play fair get punished, what is the point in it?

So if an appeal is rejected I thought standard procedure is to increase the ban?
Does this mean they agree it shouldn't be a red but we stand by the blind ref?

Just more proof that cheating pays, in sport and referendums.

Never looked like a red card, did he follow through with his studs? (it was difficult to see)... a tackle like that made back in the 70's wouldn't have lifted an eyebrow. Players sadly are over protected now days.

If it was Leeds they would've won the appeal

What a joke. Totally disgraceful from the FA to be unable to admit their man got it wrong.

If anything, Forestieri should have been penalised for a late challenge. The ball had long gone by the time he arrived.

Corruption, no other word. If that was a red card then mists games up and down the country every weekend would be abandoned!

If overturned everyone would be saying it changed the game which is exactly what happened. Didn't stand a chance of being overturned.

Just goes to prove the FA is a corrupt cartel that looks after their own.
