Nsiala's Red Card Appeal Rejected
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 14:37

Toto Nsiala’s appeal against his red card at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday has been rejected by the FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission and the centre-half now faces a three-match ban.

Nsiala was dismissed in the 75th minute at Hillsborough for a challenge on Fernando Forestieri in which he appeared to cleanly win the ball prior to the Owls striker colliding with him.

The former Shrewsbury man will miss Sunday's East Anglian derby against Norwich and the two games following the international break at Hull City and at home to Brentford.

It's practically impossble to go into a challenge like that without your studs showing. I come from an era when no one would have batted an eyelid at something like that. The games becoming more like "The Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies" these days! I Suspect the likes of Norman Hunter, Derek Jefferson et al, would be spending the vast amount of the season suspended!

A feeble but probably inevitable outcome. This Commission is ultimately more concerned not with meting out justice but with the question of whether to depart from the referee's decision. Two very different things. It still though leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. As a separate issue, Forestieri's response was quite pathetic. But these days the seeking out of an advantage as he did seems acceptable on grounds of being professional. Very sad nonetheless.

It's become totally unacceptable in today's professional game for , it seems ,the KEY participants , the Officials , to be the only ones not held to account in any way ! For punishments to be arbitrarily increased ,without detailed explanation is way out of line with the, principles of natural justice and demonstrates how very narrow minded and uncaring the FA are about all those who support and love the game ! The public protection of Officials is currently the prime objective ,and whilst they do have a difficult task they should ,like the rest of us , be prepared to be robustly held to account !
It looks, however, as if it continues to be "One rule for us etc " .
Perplexing at the very least !

The decision to appeal was a shocking decision and A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. One can only thank the FA for not adding to the existing ban for such a frivolous appeal. HURST STOP INVOLVING THE CLUB IN THIS NONSENSE, and focus on getting results on the pitch!!!

Monarch. And your reason is? Hurst showed both solidarity with player and fans. See above. Fans like me. If you have kicked the ball cleanly THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN THEN GO ON AND FOUL A PLAYER THAT FAR AWAY, studs up or not. Look at the opposition player telling the ref to look as Forest Gump fell over. Biddable ref. This is the worst decision I've seen against a Town player for decades. All you with Twitter, post a clip and get Sky involved. They like a good controversy.
