Really hope Dozzell has a good 90 minutes as Sunday showed that Edwards deserves another creative midfielder to help him out, just so he's not carrying that load alone.

Dozzell and Walters linking up in the same team could do some serious damage.

No mention of Huws?

How come Dozzell is fit for all the U23 (and was fit enough for pre-season friendlies) and yet we are constantly being told that he is not fit for first team duties??

Very strange

NITFC - If you read all that has been said about Dozzell - after the friendlies all the sports science suggested his body was close to breaking down again. A very common problem after long term injuries. He was the dropped from various squads not just first team but also U23.
It is not strange it is about protecting a player and great asset for our club, perhaps if the same approach had been used on others we may have had more games from a Teddy Bishop for example. Don't forget what happened to both Dyer and Michael Owen who played a lot of games earlier in their careers but ultimately had injury ravaged careers overall. Huws likewise has completed a lot of minutes recently he probably now needs a rest and then has two more weeks to work on fitness. Time will tell but I doubt for one minute our manager would not want these players back.

Hurst wanted to loan Dozzell, until the flak got too much. He would have been playing every week then.

Sourdough are you seriously saying that Hurst did not send Dozzell out on loan because fans were not happy!

I am sure you would be the first on here if Hurst played him in a championship game and the lad got seriously injured. Its obvious that an Under 23 match is not as physically competitive as a championship game. Trust the manager and his staff. Certain that have Dozzells best interests in the decisions they are making.

What's wrong with Bishop THIS time?

Really need Bishop / Dozzell / Huws fully fit to help us kick on.

Fans need to (albeit sad) give up on Dozzell playing under Paul hurst. He isn't just playing for the under 23s, he's actually training with them. So he isn't anywhere near the squad let alone getting in the squad. He's been fit since pre season or he wouldn't of played all the friendlys. He hasn't sufferered any knock backs with the injury so it isn't that. Hurst doesn't like young players and he obviously doesn't like andre. Even though he's the exact player we need to get the ball to the forwards and is miles our best forward passer in the entire squad

Your opinion about Hurst's view of Dozzell is interesting but controversial. Do you have access to information/sources at the club that back up your assertion that Hurst doe not appreciate Dozzell as player ?

If i've pieced together the information on AD correctly it is as follows. PH was thinking of loaning him out, then recently, an underlying "physical make up" problem was spotted, which could lead to further problems of the sort he's just come through if not monitored carefully. So rather then lend him out somewhere where he's not likely to get the sort of attention required, we've opted to keep him here, where we can keep a close eye on things. The interesting thing is, whatever the problem may be, it doesn't seem to stop him playing, albeit not for the first team at the moment!

The only person I would believe saying anything about our youngsters is Klugg and he isn't likely to get involved publicly. I'm just disappointed that Hurst made all the right noises coming in about using the home grown players yet none of them seem to be close to being involved.
I appreciate there's lots goes on behind the scenes that we as fans will never know but I still wonder what the truth is bringing in all these League 1 & 2 players plus 1/2 a dozen loans. Either he believes in the academy or he doesn't and so far there is little to persuade me he does.
