Skuse Thanks Medical Staff, Fans and Canaries
Wednesday, 12th Sep 2018 16:25

Midfielder Cole Skuse has thanked the medical staff who attended to him following his clash of heads in the East Anglian derby against Norwich City, fans of both clubs for the ovation he received as he left the field and also the Canaries for sending him a get well soon message.

Skuse underwent a lengthy spell of treatment on the pitch just before half-time after clashing heads with Norwich defender Timm Klose at a Town corner. He was eventually stretchered off but was able to be driven home after the match.

“I was out for the count for 90 seconds, two minutes but in terms of memory loss, there has not been a problem. I can remember it all,” he told the club site.""

“I’d like to thank everyone for the help on the day. At the time, I said a few foul words to the ambulance team out of probably being a bit giddy; there was frustration there as well because they were strapping me in from top to bottom - which I didn’t think was necessary.

""“They explained to me that it was as a precaution and they had to do it. Everything was done in the right manner. All the checks were done and that is why I was allowed to return to training pretty quickly.

“As I was going off I could clearly hear the chants from the fans and the ovation I got from all areas, not just our fans, meant a lot to me.

“I also received a letter in the post from Norwich City Football Club saying ‘all rivalries aside, we want to wish you a speedy recovery’. I thought that was a classy touch.”

I have worked alongside many Norwich fans through the years and it was nearly always friendly banter but I have had the misfortune of working with one Norwich fan who openly admitted he would go to the derby game looking for a fight. I thought it was so sad but I suppose we have the odd fan like him, sad.

GFH, Many moons ago when I lived in a village on the broads my neighbours were so blinkered that they would not wear anything blue or have the colour in their house in any shape or form!! I felt sorry for the kids who were brought up in such a ridiculous environment, just proves that you will always get one idiot in any walk of life!?

As a Norfolk boy born and bred, and the son of a Trill Muncher, this is good news. Hopefully, after 48 years of running battles across the landing and down the stairs, torching each others favorite armchairs, overturning the nest of tables, him bricking my bedroom window, me writing "Die Die Delia Delia Die" in the condensation on the bathroom mirror, and taking turns to stab each other with mum's kitchen knifes while we wait for the kettle to boil, I'm hoping things will at last settle down for me on my next visit home.
