Dozzell, Sears, Pennington and Edwards Start as Knudsen Among Those to Drop to Bench
Saturday, 6th Oct 2018 14:23

Andre Dozzell, Freddie Sears, Matthew Pennington and Gwion Edwards start for the Blues at Swansea City with Jonas Knudsen, Jon Nolan, Kayden Jackson and Jordan Graham dropping to the bench.

Knudsen’s usual left-back role is set to go to Janoi Donacien, who moves from right-back with Matthew Pennington returning from his one-match ban. Skipper Luke Chambers and Toto Nsiala continue at the centre of the defence ahead of keeper Dean Gerken.

Cole Skuse and Trevoh Chalobah will be in their usual deeper midfield roles with Dozzell, making his first start since the opening day of last season, coming in for Nolan ahead of them.

Edwards, facing the club where he came through the youth ranks, will be on the right with Grant Ward on the left and Freddie Sears the lone striker.

Young striker Jack Lankester is on the bench for the senior side in a competitive fixture for the first time and has been handed the number 36 shirt. Another academy product, left-back Bailey Clements, also made the trip to Wales but doesn’t make the 18.

Former Blues loanee Bersant Celina starts for the Swans, while another of last season’s Town loan players, Cameron Carter-Vickers, is on the bench.

Swansea: Nordfeldt, Van der Hoorn (c), McBurnie, Celina, Carroll, James, Grimes, Rodon, Roberts, Naughton, Byers. Subs: Mulder, Olsson, Fer, Asoro, Carter-Vickers, McKay, Fulton.

Town: Gerken, Pennington, Nsiala, Chambers (c), Donacien, Skuse, Chalobah, Edwards, Dozzell, Ward, Sears. Subs: Bialkowski, Knudsen, Jackson, Nolan, Graham, Downes, Lankester. Referee: Oliver Langford (West Midlands).

Sorry but ghekin has been consistent has flapped at one ball costing a goal since coming in with the others conceded not of his Making

More worried about donacian playing at LB against Brentford he was all at sea positionally ... I fear a goal glut good today...
Agree with the other changes we will be more of a hial threat this afternoon I think going forwards as Sears Edwards and dozzell showed more on 15 min than the rest have most of the season

More importantly let's get behind the team and support our boys COYB

How much more proof do we need that PH hasn't a clue. Great Dozzell is staringbut Sears up front on his own REALLY should be 2 upfront with Jackson. Admit Knudsen hasn't been great recently but dropping him for Donacien unbelievable.

While I would like to see two up front, I'm not sure Swansea away is the game to try it out. In all honestly I think we'd all happily take a point from this game and run, looks like Hurst is setting up for that. Just hope if it doesn't work he doesn't throw this team sheet in the bin straight away as I think Sears, Dozzell and no Knudsen is the way to go.

At least Dozzell is starting. We may even have a shot today. Bart should be in goal.

Hope springs eternal , usually , but the team selection at ITFC appears inexplicable , AND unexplained pretty well every week !( Do I mean match ?)
A supporter for decades , this is trying my patience and PH has the habit of saying a lot , but articulating next to nothing .
I do hope several pennies drop altogether and quickly , to effect a remedy for our ills but sadly have zero real hope !
What this dire run will do for attendance and support Lord only knows ; an air of gloom seems to hang over nearly all the commentaries and that's such a shame .
Mr Evans it's time for you to do another interview/ public utterance ,if only to let us know you can and do appreciate the situation !!
Come on you Blues !

warktheline ...... sounds good, but you and I know it won't happen, both players will always be - play one, then out for many. That will never change with either of them.

Talent yes - committment, dedication..... ?? - and/or fitness .... ??

This manager is way out of his depth and needs to fall on his sword before the damage becomes irreparable. Already 1-0 down at the time of posting and another defeat inevitable as we cannot score goals.

One nil down after 9 minutes, currently bottom of the league with Preston winning.
We are definitely this season's Sunderland, the only difficult thing is deciding who's
going down with us.
