Arsenal and Spurs Linked With Renewed Dozzell Interest
Sunday, 7th Oct 2018 10:34

Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell now he has returned from his long spell on the sidelines with injury.

According to a somewhat speculative piece in the Sunday Mirror the North London clubs were both keen on the 19-year-old prior to his cruciate knee ligament injury and are “ready to revive” their interest now he is back in first-team action.

The former Copleston High School pupil played 14 minutes as a sub in Tuesday's 2-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough before making his first start since the opening day of last season in yesterday's 3-2 victory at Swansea.

Dozzell is set to train with the England U20s during the international break but along with Town team-mate Flynn Downes will not play in their friendlies against Italy and the Czech Republic, while Blues loanee Trevoh Chalobah is a full member of the party.

Lucky for us Andre has his Dad to keep him grounded. It's been said before that Jason Dozzell thinks the best thing for Andre is to stay at Ipswich and get first team experience rather than go off to the Prem

Anyone on here that doesn't think he'll be sold(probably at a ridiculously low fee ala Ipswich's normal way) to line ME pockets is deluded.
Also if he's let go for 15m I wouldn't be wanting PH spending the 5m he will probably get on more lower league gems.

The way it works now it will be his choice as a club cannot force a player to stay.

@virginblue who says he hasnt been fit before now ? And not my fault you havent watched the Hurst interviews ro be aware of what he has been saying on the subject of Andre but defo he has been implying that as yet he hasn't shown enough. Then we lose 2 strikers to injury and then it didnt take too long to put him in the team.

Not in his interests or ours for him to go.

One tires of the Neanderthal diatribe against Evans...I am no apologist for the man, but the puerile statements, unassociated with facts, rankles. There are no filters to opinion in this day and age...I detest the way the media play the “poor Mick McCarthy” thing ...but there are a gathering of Town “fans” that fuel that “ungrateful, don't know what they think they are” stereotypes....
if Dozzell goes it will be the harsh reality of the English football:..I hope his fantastic father keeps him at Town...albeit selfishly...

Unfortunately I'm not surpised by this story.

I suspect the big boys may want to snap him up for a few million as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of having to pay 20 million plus, if Andre does start to perform to his potential over the course of the next year or two.

Jas, you are delusional if you think Evans has 'cashed in' from his investment in this club. Virtually all clubs sell players they would prefer to keep.. A new owner willing to haemorrhage money would be lovely... But that would the reality, someone rolling the dice and willing to lose. I hope we keep andre, but his career trajectory will likely be a steeper rise than itfc.

Bossman. He has been very clear that they are worried about his knee.
And AD has not come in for a striker, he's come in for Nolan.
Please post a link to an interview where he's stated that AD isn't showing enough to play without it being linked to his knee.

Tell them to sod off!

Sick of us grooming all these young players only for clubs to come in. What's the point of having a successful youth set up? Is it to make the club money or making us successful?

Almost every club outside of the Premier League is a 'selling club', we all know that and of course we are too. The criticism of Evans is fully justified because he sells players to pay for the deficit on the profit and loss account while saying that he is putting in £5,6 or 7 million a year, which the accounts show he isn't. It's the deception that rankles. Evans has been trying to sell for a while and nobody would want to throw their money away running something they didn't want any more, but of course he would never admit to that. And Milne, what's he up to these days? Very quiet, maybe he's choosing more carpets?

Far more likely it will be Bart that is gone in the January window.
Hurst will get half the fee to reinvest in players and ME will keep the other half.
No point in having a keeper of his ability bench warming a championship sideline.

@virginblue surely Nolan is a number 8 and Dozzell a number 10 ? Did you actually see how Dozzell played yesterday ? It looked to me like he was sitting in the 10 role which Walters had held. You clearly havent seen the Hurst pre match interviews as he has been questioned quite heavily in Dozzell and while being very polite he had clearly said he hadn't seen enough from Dozzell since arriving at the club. Go back and watch them.

f*ck off. Need it in caps? F*CK OFF!!! We don't get to be patient and nurse him back to health only to sell him. We need him on the pitch.

Stupid lazy journalism, Dozzell plays one game and already the Mirror reports Spurs and Arsenal are interested, this is the same paper that reported Jose Mourinho would be sacked on Saturday night.

Andre can learn a bit from his father. This story almost feels recycled from the 90s. When Jason left he acted as if he had achieved everything but after a brief spell in the Tottenham first team drifted to the sidelines and drifted into the reserves and played out his career in the lower divisions. Has he stayed longer at Ipswich his career could have achieved so much more.

There are benefits in training alongside world class players, but there are also benefits in being in and around the first team rather than just another cog in bloated squads full of players who are challenging for a place - a true star can really shine but there are many who end up in the shadows.

Overall he needs to be at least a regular in the Ipswich team before a step up should be considered otherwise it could be good for the money but not good for the long term career. I'm really hoping Jason can keep him grounded, ambition is great but success is what's remembered.

I'm sick of big clubs swooping in and buying up all the talented young players only to let them rot in the reserves. Andre's dad knows all about what it's like for a young footballer. Andre needs to stay with us for a season or two to get some actual playing time. He is a very promising talent, but he has barely even played in the Championship yet. Now he has healed up and has taken his chance, I expect he will start to get that experience.

Of course he will go eventually but it would be ludicrous of us not to play him while we have him. Even before Evans we were a selling club and the like of Dyer, Bent and Ambrose were always going to leave but at least we have good seasons from them here. I don't want us selling him having never really made us of him here. Get him in the side as a regular and if he plays well we will benefit and his value will increase.

ArnieM sell him then loan back no thanks pointless keep him and build a team around him or sell him to highest bidder with a sell on

We've always have been and always will be a selling club, long before Evans arrived. Let's hope he stays for another season or two then we cash in big time, cause if he can stays fit, the lads heading for the top. Harsh reality I'm afraid, but it is what it is.
