Legend Beattie's Funeral Today
Friday, 26th Oct 2018 12:11

The funeral of Blues legend Kevin Beattie takes place this afternoon with fans asked to pay tribute at Portman Road rather than at the crematorium. Beattie died aged 64 last month.

The funeral procession will pass by the Sir Bobby Robson statue in Portman Road at around 2.30pm and Beattie’s family have politely requested that supporters salute the man viewed as the club’s greatest ever player there.

Space is limited at the Seven Hills Crematorium and parking restrictions set to be put in place with the funeral service for family, close friends and ex-team-mates of the former England international.""The book of condolence will remain in Planet Blue until 3.15pm on Friday for those who have not already signed it.

The TWTD Forum will be closed for six minutes from 2.30pm in tribute.

Why not tell us the planned route so that people could be by the road side as not all can make it to the ground.

Some random northern guy was on talk sport this morning singing the beats praises. Said that if he was playing today Real Madrid and Man City would be fighting to sign him. RIP the beat.

Rip Beat and best wishes to his family today. Unlikely we will ever have a player of his calibre at the club again. A true town legend.

Great turnout today at Portman Road for The Beat - credit to all who attended, and those who couldn't, but were there in spirit.

Farewell to a TRUE IPSWICH LEGEND. He'll be looking after us.
