Lambert Set to Be Confirmed on Saturday
Friday, 26th Oct 2018 14:25

Paul Lambert will be confirmed as Town boss on Saturday morning at 9am ahead of the game at Millwall. The new manager will watch the match from the stands with Bryan Klug in caretaker charge.

It’s likely there will be a press conference with Lambert, 49, who is expected to sign a three-year contract, early in the week, with Tuesday currently pencilled in.

The new manager will meet the players and existing coaching staff at Playford Road on Sunday.

The deal is believed to be all but done but Town won’t make the announcement today with legend Kevin Beattie’s funeral taking place this afternoon.

Lambert is set to bring two members of staff to Portman Road to work alongside him, who we understant will be Stuart Taylor as his assistant and Jim Henry as fitness coach. Ian Culverhouse, previously Lambert's assistant at Norwich, is not thought to be part of the team.

Former Limerick manager Taylor, 43, previously worked with Lambert at Aston Villa, Wolves and Stoke, while Henry was on his staff at the Potters.

I hope his experience can take us out of the relegation zone! We're in big trouble atm so he is going to need to motivate the team and make them gel asap..... Hopefully ME will give him some cash in January to get some experienced players in the squad.

Slightly annoyed that he has worked with Norwich, but as fans we need to man up and back the new manager!

He always struck me as a fierce and stern man. Some heads will roll!

He needs backing seriously in January Evans. If you don't you will be treating the club and its supporters with complete contempt.

Good luck lambert! Although you have a Norwich past, you could do something special here. The future Brian Clough of East Anglia. Step 1 keep us up.

I'm OK with this appointment. We need strong leadership and a good footballing knowledge and Paul Lambert ticks all the boxes. We focus on our team and not where he has been in the past. We are in a mess not the others. He is an employee of Ipswich Town football club and is here to do a job for US. He wants to show them up the road he still has the hunger to succeed and how great it will be when he takes us out of relegation, gives us back our confidence and then sticks it to them at the local Derby.
In Lambert we must trust. Goodbye past and hello bright new future.

To hell with the Norwich connection - in fact if Lambert comes here and is a success it will just rub their noses in it all the more. The time for moaning is over a united club Manager, Fans and Players will turn this situation around better than a divided one.

Looks like he won't be bringing Culverhouse. Good.

Certainly the type of manager we need, will just need to look beyond his Norwich connection.

If he's half as good as a manager as he was a player, then we are very lucky. He was an absolutely smashing footballer. Welcome Paul. See you tomorrow.

Just wish you Paul every success here. I saw you turn things around in our game against you when Counago scored in the first half. Please do the same for us and you will become a hero at Portman Road. My goodness we need your help to get us up the league. It was not many games ago that Norwich were only just above us in the league and now look where they are. Unbelievable! Good luck to you and your staff.

I don't really care about his previous Norwich connection. Joe Royle was an ex-Norwich player and he managed us quite brilliantly. Welcome to Ipswich Town Mr. Paul Lambert! Now, let's get us out of this mess.

All the best Paul, welcome to ITFC!

PS
I must admit while I'm pretty sure Lambert is no more or less a budgie than a Tractor boy and I couldn't care less just as long as he fix this mess - I'm glad Ian Culverhouse won't be joining us.

Maybe it's me being negative but he didn't do great at keeping stoke up before getting sacked , why do we think he would be do any better in the championship, I hope this works or we will be more of a joke than before

Good luck Paul - hope you can shake this team up and get results! Got used to the news now and will forget the past with "them" - that was then, this is now, and I will be fully behind him.

Forget the Norwich link, not a bad appointment at all considering the state we're in. Fair play to him for taking on a challenge that many would have rejected. Welcome Lambo.

I hope our owner backs you fully in the January window and I wish you the very best of luck.
