Caretaker Klug Switches System as Blues Face Millwall
Saturday, 27th Oct 2018 14:30

Andre Dozzell, Grant Ward and Trevoh Chalobah are recalled to caretaker-manager Bryan Klug’s starting line-up at Millwall with the Blues set to switch to 3-5-2. New boss Paul Lambert will keep a watching brief from the stands.

Ward returns to the right wing-back role he occupied during the first two games of Klug’s stint as caretaker-boss last season, having previously played there during the academy head of coaching and development’s time working at Spurs, while Chalobah lines up at the centre of the defence alongside Matt Pennington and skipper Luke Chambers with Jonas Knudsen on the left.

In midfield, Dozzell joins Cole Skuse and Flynn Downes while Freddie Sears and Kayden Jackson are up front.

For Millwall skipper Shaun Hutchinson returns from injury for James Meredith, while Jiri Skalak comes in for Jed Wallace. Ex-Blues loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe is on the bench.

Millwall: Amos, Hutchinson (c), Cooper, Williams, Gregory, Ferguson, Romeo, Elliott, M Wallace, Skalak, Leonard. Subs: Archer, McLaughlin, Meredith, Bradshaw, Tunnicliffe, Morison, O’Brien.

Town: Bialkowski, Ward, Pennington, Chambers (c), Chalobah, Knudsen, Skuse, Downes, Dozzell, Sears, Jackson. Subs: Gerken, Edwards, Nolan, Spence, Rowe, Nsiala, Lankester. Referee: Robert Jones (Merseyside).

Knudsen on the left side of a back 3 is far better...a formation we haven't played in this season so all the best lads!

COYB! Personally really happy to see Danny Rowe on the bench, a player with something to offer if given the chance in my opinion.

Would have preferred Knudsen for Chambers with Kenlock left wing back.

Immediately more positive, attacking and ambitious than any side Paul Hurst put out.

Good luck Bryan. Whatever the result, your passion and love for the club is more than enough.

Finally Chalobah is in defence, where he plays for England and Chelsea. Hurst got it so wrong with a number of players. Up the town!

Interesting to see that of the permanent Hurst signings only one starts. Telling of the quality that has been brought in. Hopefully the team spirit is there for Klug with a willingness to impress a new manager watching from the stands. Regardless of the result I'm hoping i can read some positive things about the performance today.

I like the look of this team and system. Hopefully after discussions with the players they will buy into it to and be more comfortable and positive. Bench has something in every department too, to make changes if necessary. I wish Brian Klugg and the players well for today and long term under Paul Lambert. Lets see some fight and give us some hope going forward.
