Folami Wins Cap But Australia Exit AFC U19 Championship
Monday, 29th Oct 2018 14:33

Ben Folami’s Australian U19s exited the AFC U19 Championship at the quarter-final stage after losing 3-1 to Saudi Arabia in Indonesia.

The defeat means the Young Socceroos, who finished second in their group, miss out on a place in next summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.

Folami, 19, who was winning his fourth U19s cap, scored once and assisted once at the tournament, both in the group stage.

The Sydney-born striker impressed and his performances have seen the Australian media tip him for full international honours.

Folami made two Blues starts - one in the Championship and one in the Carabao Cup - last season in addition to three sub appearances.

While away with Australia Folami spoke about his career both domestically and internationally.

With Morris gone for a while yet there may be a shot for Folami unless PL can get Sears or Jackson firing. Though to be fair, Messi would struggle with the level of service we give our strikers!

Hope that means he'll be back soon. Thought he did well last season so maybe PL will include him in the weeks ahead.

All our youngsters except Wolfie and I think Downes need beefing up. Greater height would be good too. Dont we have anyone coming thro who is Chalobahs height? That would be so useful

The likes of Gates, Talbot, Woods, Osborne, Viljoen, Burley and Hegan were not beefy and someone like Whymark although tall was quite slight. If you are good enough you are big enough.

Well we in the smelly stuff now, hopefully he and some of the others will get their chances now, even if they do need to go up a shirt size, somethings got to change.I certainly think Paul Lambert will make more use of our youth talent. Its every man to the pump right now ,
