Bishop Returns as U23s Host Cardiff
Monday, 5th Nov 2018 11:04 Town’s top-of-the-table U23s face Cardiff City at Portman Road this afternoon with Teddy Bishop returning to action after his hamstring injury (KO 1pm).
In addition to the midfielder, Toto Nsiala and Barry Cotter will also be in the team.
Gerard Nash’s side will bear the name of their new sponsor, the University of Suffolk, having been without one since the end of 2016/17 when the deal with Servest ended.
The young Blues are currently unbeaten in 10 and are top of the Professional Development League Two South table by four points.
Entry to the Cobbold Stand only is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, while season ticket holders and members will be admitted free.
Meanwhile, academy second-year scholar striker Tommy Hughes has joined Bury Town on loan.
The 18-year-old made his debut in Saturday's 2-1 Bostik League North home defeat to Aveley.
Bury manager Ben Chenery thanked the Blues for allowing the youngster to join his club.
"I would like to thank Ipswich for once again allowing us to take one of their young players on loan.
"Last season we had Jack Lankester and Brett McGavin with us and I think Ipswich saw the benefit that it gave to both players in playing competitive Isthmian League football, with Jack now making first-team appearances in the Championship this season.
"Tommy came into the side on Saturday and showed plenty of energy and did well up front for us in his first game, and hopefully it will benefit both him, us and also Ipswich.
"I would like to thank Alan Lee and the staff at the Ipswich academy for their help once again and I hope we can continue a good partnership with them"

Bishop is a talented player. But he keeps getting injured. I've heard that like Andy Carrol, he doesn't like doing the pre-hab and re-hab and strength and conditioning work required to keep those injuries down. I hope that's not the case or if it was, Lambert coming in has or will change that. Would be great to see a midfield 3 of Huws, Bishop and Dozzell instead of Skuse, Chalobah and Downes (ok neither one of those sets of 3 has any balance to it but judging by the shots the latter 3 took on saturday, we'd be better off with the prior 3!) | | |

Good news for Bish. Wish the lad the best of luck for a successful run out today; hopefully a major step towards full and sustained fitness. Once again, if he can stay right, it's like adding a new player to PL's squad. Hope, also, that Huws isn't too far behind him! | | |

would be great if he can get back to playing ,got doubts about him though, he seems to be one of those players that have the skills but but never stay fit long enough to put them to use.Some players are just injury prone,im not knocking him . Huws looked a good signing but it has never gone further than lifting the pen really.Would be a big plus if he were fit.Lets hope both these players get back to full fitness soon.We certainly need them . |  | |
