Lambert Meets Blues Legends
Wednesday, 7th Nov 2018 16:21

Blues boss Paul Lambert and his staff met Town legends Terry Butcher, George Burley and John Wark at Playford Road earlier today.

Butcher revealed on BBC Radio Suffolk's Life’s a Pitch on Saturday that Lambert wanted to “get a few of the older boys together and talk about our opinions and things like that”.

Lambert was joined by first-team coach Matt Gill, new goalkeeping-coach Jimmy Walker, assistant manager Stuart Taylor and fitness coach Jim Henry as he chatted at length with the former Blues over lunch.

“It’s the first time I have been asked to come to the training ground and sit down and have a chat since I left the Club,” Burley told iFollow Ipswich.

“We all appreciated Paul asking us down and wanting to get our thoughts. It was a good conversation. We all want the best for Ipswich Town.”

Wark added: “It was great to be invited down. It’s the first time a manager has asked me to go and have a chat and some lunch as well and I really appreciated it.

“Paul’s obviously got a big job on his hands but the signs were encouraging on Saturday. You could see from the reaction of the fans at the weekend that they are right behind Paul and the team had a right go.

“He’s got all the right credentials for the job here and I just hope - we all hope - that he can turn things around here because Ipswich is my club. It’s our club.”

It is nice to see that PL has got all his own Professional training staff in place now, with Walker being the last one in this week !!!!!
What a stroke of Genius to ask the opinions of the true Blue Legends, and invite them to Playford Rd for the training session ? by the film it looks as though everything went well. !! Great to see it !!
The Players also had smiles on there faces.
Something seemed wrong with the last Regime, but what happens in the dressing stays in the dressing room, as the old saying goes.

Refreshing to see Lambert and his team wanting to immerse themselves into the club. Refreshing to see that openness as well as showing respect to those who helped shaped our club's rich history.

Did lambert ever ever do this at Norwich? Damn how stupid of me. They've never had one player of that caliber play for them. So I guess lambert must have missed one of delia smiths super lunches. Wounder if she was washing the dishes after they had lunch. Bet Paul Lambert phoned delia up and must've said let's be aving you. Where are you? Paul's response was- Ipswich you daft cow!!

Funny how PL respect the view of Butcher and Burley yet some fans said Burley and Butcher was out of touch.

Everyone bring a mate and see if we can get 20,000 at the next home game.

Lest we forget, terryf, Big Mick achieved a similar great escape. As did Joe Royle. Might need to hold tight for Paul Lambert to be mentioned with those greats. But I do hope you are right.

This one feels different. Could it be Paul is the one we've been waiting for since Jim?

Brilliant! To hear our former greats saying "this is our club" is very moving. What a team PL has at his disposal. PH had good intentions and wanted to bring in the feel-good factor, but unfortunately, it didn't work. PL feels like the real deal. Let's hope that after several false beginnings, this finally is the start of a new era at PR.

I reckon he did call Mick Mills but he thought it was was a Radio Suffolk phone-in and didn't let PL get a word in to invite him!

Actually made hairs back of my neck stand up watching that. Proud those legends are back and clearly PL wanted their support. This is so the right move for our club getting PL in charge.
