Town Launch New Tickets for Schools Scheme
Thursday, 15th Nov 2018 14:57

Town have launched a new scheme which will see thousands of free match tickets given to local primary schools.

As part of the new initiative a School of the Day - contacted directly by the club - will receive a batch of adult and junior tickets for matches with parents or guardians attending along with children in order to take pressure off teachers.

The scheme will kick-off at the West Brom match a week on Friday - where the club are also running a general ticket promotion - with Whitton Community Primary School the first School of the Day. Midfielder Cole Skuse was at the school earlier today to distribute tickets.

“This sounds like a great idea and having met some of the youngsters and given them their tickets I really hope they'll enjoy coming to a match,” he told the club site.

"Football can bring people together and this is a good opportunity for them to come to what might be their first ever match and see what it's all about."

Dan Palfrey, Town’s PR and marketing and officer, added: “We want to encourage youngsters to come to Portman Road and gain that football bug.

“Hopefully they'll enjoy the experience with a parent or guardian and then maybe look to come back in the future.”

Very slow hand clap for getting there eventually.

It's a positive mood but something which Evans should have done years ago, the club used to do this but clearly haven't been bothered in recent years despite the large number of empty seats.

A good move by the club as always a little slow jumping on the bandwagon, but got there in the end!!

Good to see - but hardly rocket science that this is the way forward. Still - better late than never...

Grand, gets the youth investment at a young age, get them in young and it will pay off tenfold over the lifetime of a supporter.

Seems like a slumbering PR machine has finally been woken.

Now if we can just see Milne replaced by someone who has any sense of connection to football....

Pretty much agree with all comments so far....

Should have been done ages ago to get the next generations through the gates.
If you're not in the top flight you have to think outside the box to get new supporters in, otherwise you'll walk round the town and see less and less Ipswich shirts and more Man City.

Hopefully it isn't too late, and will work.

Eight kids' tickets per school, once in a blue moon. Miserable effort in a half-empty stadium. And most of those kids should be in bed, not forced to watch a night game with all the bad behaviour and abusive language that go with it.

Are the first five comments in this column written by the same person?

Poor kids think I'd prefer an after school detention instead

Approached the club in Cleggs time at the Fans Forum and suggested this. only for Simon Milton to ask me to explain what I meant when I said the next generation could become of us.
They dismissed the idea. Until now.

This was brought up at the recent supporters club event. Hopefully the club are finally listening to the people who really matter, the fans.

Man City having issues filling stadium for some games. Although a few teams in the Championship finding it easy. Do we have true ITFC fans running our club I wonder

Big up Mark Fuller and every fan who donated for making this happen.

Isn't this how Naaarwich have managed to fill their stadium? (Genuine question, not a statement.) Finally, Mr Corporate may have realised a football club is more than just money.

The club has to look further afield at the many Primary Schools in Suffolk and the small amount of tickets given away is laughable. As mentioned before would this have happened if Karl had not started his campaign.

Mixed feelings, good for obvious reasons however nothing worse than sat amongst loads of kids who will be bored sh!tle$$ within 15 minutes...they can't keep still, they'll be kicking the back of my seat no doubt too, that is bloody annoying :), I know I know I'm a miserable git...if they bring their phones to occupy themselves then I could be persuaded I guess ha!
